Hello, I have been trying to complete the All In mission (air) on hard and I cannot win because I am always getting overwhelmed. Could anyone tell me how to beat this mission
For brutal missions, it really comes down to your APM. You need to do alot of things within a short period of time. This includes knowing roughly how many units to split up top and bottom so that you can clear whatever waves that come your way.
Unfortunately, the Air version is harder than the Ground one. But a good tanker for your front lines is to use Planetary Fortresses instead of bunkers and then having a few scvs behind to constantly repair. In the meanwhile, I usually stack Siege Tanks to shell at Kerrigan while using Banshees to snipe key units.
I can’t remember what will come for Air but I guess massing Vikings in place of Banshees for sniping will come in handy. I’d stay away from BCs since they are rather slow, and it’s alot of additional APM to Yamato.
If you can describe more in detail (or provide a short video clip) it will be much easier to explain where you need to improve. Alternatively, you can YouTube for a gameplay and just mirror what that person has done.
Vikings, Siege Tanks, Marines are the way to go.
Planetary Fortresses if you went for that tech but building predition turrets if you didn’t isn’t bad. You just need to build more bunkers with marauders and if you have them upgraded Firebats for the frontline.
Vikings will be important to hunt broodlords and the leviathan. Siege tanks to make sure your frontline holds together with SCV repairs.
And marines to go after kerrigan when she spawns careful since when she spawns the third time she will have razor swarm. You can trigger it by walking 3 marines into range. After that move in and burst her down.
Make sure you get to macro up properly because if you don’t have the resources your defenses are gonna fall.
Edit:
Here is a video of it being done on brutal
The old Osiris Guide would also apply here, as it’s for Brutal so this will definitely work for you on Hard.
Search for “Osiris Guide All in Brutal”. Choose the one that fits the tech path you went with.
On an aside, can someone remind me how to post links/videos in these subpar forums?
So frustrating when you can post simple stuff when you’re trying to legitimately assist someone.
For video, you just place the link. Otherwise, break the link somehow so that it’s not recognized by the algorithm as a link.
No dice in placing links for me. Tells me I’m not permitted to.
use this symbol in front of it “~”
I’ll try that next time.
Air version of “All In” is actually much easier than its “Nydus” counterpart, if you have access to the Hive Mind Emulator tech. Simply place lots of those emulator towers on the cliff in front of the artifact and also behind your mineral line. That way the big air waves coming to your base from those two directions can be fully “stolen” and turn from huge nuisance to huge advantage. This especially escalates for broodlords — 4-5 of those can easily fend off Kerrigan from the save distance, distracting her with their broodlings.
Overall, however, you should devote your time on fortifying all entrances with lots of siege tanks (you’ll never have enough) and covering them with bunkers or planetary fortresses (and yes, SCVs to repair is a must). Also it may be wise to pull back your forces in the beginning of the mission, so they stand in a more narrow entrances — much cheaper, faster and easier to cover.
If you don’t have Hive Mind Emulators for countering air waves — oh boy, then you’ll also need a squad of vikings to fight them back. And probably lots of missile turrets on those two places where the big air packs come. If you have enough micro, you can also try frying stacked mutalisks with irradiation (Science Vessel) or seeker missiles (Raven).
As for Kerrigan… well, first I gotta disagree with what Kyrie has said. Neither siege tanks, nor BCs with yamato are good for countering her. First, Kerrigan has an ability to instantly kill any mechanical unit — and believe me, she’ll use it quite often. Second, she has an immortal-like shield absorbing damage from every incoming attack higher than some limit. Therefore, instead of trying to kill her with big hits, you should zerg her with ton of small hits instead. Marine squad with stimpack would be an ideal solution for this. Just make sure to avoid her razor blade storm that she’ll start throwing closer to the end.
I always prefered Air version even when I didn’t have micro to use HME.
