protoss is over preforming and is favored in pvt. as can be seen in the graph
if you actually watch pro games it is very obvious that protoss has allot of unfair advantages in tvp, and you get matches like where prince beats parting, or when trap loses the game but manages to come back using the most broken unit in the game(disruptors)
the best way i can describe tvp is its like tvt, but one of the players doesnt have to do any thinking and can just use broken units to get free wins even with bad mechanics.
the issue is way worse below the pro level
before you look keep in mind protoss is only the second most popular race.
rankedftw. com/stats/races/1v1/#v=2&r=-2&l=6
look at that graph, seriously take a good look. and tell me that has nothing to do with balence. protoss below the pro level is super easy and this is evident as high as grand master.
While zerg and terran had some back and forth to whoh has had the most in GM. Toss just continues to dominate. since 11/2018. I wonder what happened back then to where Protoss continues to go up yet zerg and terran continue to go down
and now toss is as highest as it has ever been. I wonder what crazy buffs that toss has received recently. sigh. cant make this up.
however toss will deny these facts since it doesnt fit their agenda of being carried by their race.
PvZ is also p favored. but I let them fight they can fight their own battle.
Zerg takes some strategy. as long as they dont continue to head but their units into a wall and think they are good to play with. P on the other hand. can run through tank lines. rediculous.
Actually it shows that PvT is turned and is now 53.39% from 54.81% in July… when the TCF was crying that this period was going to clock in 60+% lol. We will see. Already coming back down to earth.
Now look here:
Lagging race: Protoss (13%)
Just let GSL play out. I promise you Maru and TY are going to have an answer for the Protoss strategies. Inno, Dream, and Cure will do alright too.
And actually Dream might even be better than any of them TvP except maybe TY. he is looking really good.
Hey everyone help me analyze this replay and figure out why this terran lost to protoss.
Let’s take a look:
No reaper scout – wonder how often this guy loses to stargate/non-standard warp gate pressures from refusing to reaper. Doesn’t even get mines either-- just hellion, which he uses for a super late hellion drop.
Somehow it worked out pretty well for him this game, because he still got 11 worker kills–sick damage!
Such a shame he completely threw away any momentum he had from that by double expanding to 4base without putting on any more pressure. Oh well, we’ll get toss in the lategame.
Now get this, what does our boy do with his epic 4 base economy? You might be thinking Range libs? Too cliche. BC transition? Nope, not this guy. Get this:
4x
factory
tanks!!
What an absolute madman!!! Just need toss to walk into our mass tank line and they’re toast. Literally can’t lose.
Too bad we’re caught completely out of position when toss hits our 4th. Dang. Maybe we would have used some of bio units to give us map vision, which we totally could have done since we weren’t using them to harass anyway…
was this the one on pillars of gold? that game was… questionable to say the least but its my first macro game of the day so whatevs.
anyway this isnt about balance whining its about statistics.
the factories werent that bad actually i didnt have enough barracks and the barracks i did have had reactors(i needed tech labs for marauders). i also floated 1k minerals at the 9 min mark.
i went over the replay with my friend and he also said mean stuff about you and said there was no way i should have gotten 14 probes.
i was playing under the assumption that you couldnt play macro because the previous game you did a charge all in.
Same players. Again terran no reaper scout from the terran, although the terran does scv scout.
Despite scouting cyber before expo, terran goes for…3rd CC before factory?? With double ebay no less. Follow up scout sees no protoss third, but unfortunately too late to really do anything about it.
Could have paid off a lot if the protoss had been playing more passively, but that’s the risk you take.
3CC before factory isn’t a ‘scout better’ play style, it’s a gamble on protoss being passive that terran is committed to before protoss has to commit to the allin. Even if you scan the gateways what are you going to do, make 3 bunkers in your main and pray? He’ll just back off and take his third like nothing happened–because how are you going to stop him?
Tank based play is perfectly viable against Protoss it’s actually preferred by professionals in this current meta. His mistake was not going ghosts to supplement that army, as archons can soak up tank shots forever. Now that you’ve criticized his game play let’s see your games.
Yes, tanks against disruptors is probably the meta, but on that game were probably useless, didn’t download the replay, but the factory count looks really high and there was only 2-3 meds on the game, which means any bio will do nothing. As you say, tanks are good, the other day I saw heromarine beating showtime with pure marine tank, heromarine got surprised at how well his weird strat worked, he expected some bad result because he said he needed to be more active on the map, but ended winning a macro game with only tank marine medivac.Ghost and tanks destroy any protoss ground.
At his level going for more infrastructure is preferable. Champs calling him out for playing macro games, like that’s a negative when trying to improve.
Yes, but I think 4 fact is overkill because most of the time they will be iddle, better having 2 fact and extra starport or 2 fact and a couple of raxes more and ghost production, because every emp is basically instant damage if there is a fight.Probably 2 fact 2 starport would be the ideal choice since P had collo and vikings can scout ,zone prisms and kill collo/obs. I think if he wanted to improve he should stick to safe compositions, and if going bio, at least having 6 medis along the army, trying some weird bio mech with not enough healing is not good.
Yep. Once our guy irons things out he’ll be crushing nerds with bio tank.
His mistake was the “I’m floating, so i’ll just expand again off 50 workers” 4th CC, then commit hard core to tank production with basically no map awareness.
When the push came he had 9 siege tanks , 4 were in “siege-and-forget” at his natural and third, 3 were unsieged, and only 2 were in position to hit the attack path. The 4th base was isolated and was never going to survive in any scenario at that point.
If you set yourself up on a totally position-depending composition with no map vision, no viking, and no anti-warp prism turrets in main or natural, how is it supposed to end well?
Aren’t you the barcode mech terran player that was part of the TCF for the longest time? But yes go on pick out a replay that he loses against an equal opponent that made as many mistakes as he did. I didn’t see any warp prism harass, Protoss just reached 200 supply and attacked just before Terran had an even bigger upgrade/tech advantage. Still waiting on your games btw.
