Alarak re-rework please?

Alarak still blows. Your options are Ascendants and… Ascendants on every map which gets a little boring. Vanguards are still trash and Wrathwalkers are a meme.

Maybe give him Blood Hunters to scale into besides casters, the Koprulu Sector’s worst Immortal variant, and Memewalkers. What else are you going to do with them?

Just buff Mech and give him a Stargate for Destroyers.
That’ll be fine for me.

I would definitely like a revamp 2.0 with some additional fixes or changes for some or all commanders.

Just destroyers. And end the game.

Mech is still a viable strategy. It’s actually really good – Not as good as Ascendants, since they’re the single most OP thing in late game Protoss co-op history, but still really good. You just need to learn how to play it.

Also, saying that Vanguards are trash makes me laugh. I have literally zero problems using Vanguards. Yes, they don’t have their Campaign stats, and yes, their shots are slow, but they are still highly usable.

I mean mass slayer build is more mobile, ramps up quicker, kills bases faster, more forgiving of mistakes, makes empower me 1 shot everything in the game, and does more damage to structures.

Mass slayer works well, I think the problem is the robo units.

Vanguard and Wrathwalker are ok, but just OK

I would increase movement speed for both of them and the Havoc,
increase attack speed (ie projectile speed) for the Wrathwalker, to reduce overkill
and give the Vanguard the campaign stats.

That way you could have slayer/robo/ascendant

I enjoy mixing in 6 Wrathwalkers and 6 Vanguards. Gives good burst and AoE Anti-Armor. I think my mech is usually like… 6 Wrathwalker, 6 Vanguard, 4 Havocs, 1 War Prism, and like 9 - 15+ Slayers, depending upon if I splash in Vanguards or not. That’s my normal mech comp.

Just because you can make it look good doesn’t make it actually good.

I suggested they give him Blood Hunters a while back, it would sync greatly with Stalkers and Havocs.

The only thing is, Vorazun stole their Ability :frowning:

How so? How do havocs or slayers synergize with blood hunters in any way? Iirc squad sight applies to melee units but a little bit of range isn’t going to make blood hunters worth making.

While I understand that you all want to play something other than ascendants (honestly I am happy playing ascendants every game, if anything I hate playing DoN with Alarak because I am forced to play robo) let’s not forget that ascendant build still has problems as well.

Mobility is terrible and you can’t count on death taxi because of the long cooldown, you have to micro 2 or more groups of expensive and fragile units to accomplish the same thing other commanders do with ease.

¿Ascendants and… Ascendants?

i almost no use ascendant and i’ve done a lot of brutations with stalkers + havoc + supplicants or supplicants + wrathwalkers + havoc + vanguards (and one or two warprism).
learn how to play with agressive pilon overcharge and it will make your early game so much easier.

alarak is a beast. stop crying.
i would be happy with a buff for his robo tho

I’ve played with allies who made no units successfully. Use buildings in the middle of a map with overcharge, one even did a mass war prism successfully. I could not reproduce either of these well, but options are there for experienced players.

The ‘mass War Prism’ might have been me lol.

They would be taking damage up front before Supplicants and Alarak himself who has a very bad habbit of diving head-first into entire armies, causing you to lose a large percentage of your army from sacrifice if you aren’t careful.

I can recall something about Alarak “favoring a ground war” in his reveal blog.

You would think that if that is the case, he should have Blood Hunters but nope.

They would need to be given some unique mechanic since Void Stasis was baked into Vorazun’s DTs as part of making them the Best of All Worlds for DTs.

Honestly, it would be cool to get them as a Physical Damage dealer counterpart to the Ascendants, in that you could power them up, perhaps through kills, to gain crazy shields and weapon attack damage, while also sacrificing Supplicants to cheat death and gain durability back. I vaguely recall a scrapped beta unit in the multiplayer proper that was supposed to work like that.

You have alarak to deal with unit mass so single target fire units are actually good for him.

Problem of his mech is that slayers and vanguards have the same range, which makes them a-move unfriendly, and wrathwalker suck because it is the only alarak unit that takes AA damage and it can’t attack air. Either give it an upgrade that makes it a good tank vs aa fire or shoot at the air will make it a fair unit, or it will always be a joke.
