One of the main issues with Alarak’s P1 is actually squeezing soul juice out of supplicants. The only reliable way of doing so is Ascendants, as their ability to kill supplicants on demand allows you to safely power up your mech. But the main issue is how said mech needs to be present, else it’s a wasted opportunity.
My suggestion? Supplicants now drop soul pickups, a la Abathur biomass, or Dehaka essence. These will last forever on the map, will clump up to reduce clutter, and can be picked up by any mechanical unit at range (they will take only the souls they need to fully power up.) This would massively increase the flexibility of P1, as mech can now power up more freely.

Yea sure its a neat improvement.
Also would be nice if dead alarak mech drops the soul buffs it was using.

if alarak and abathur had a baby
i mean i have a similar idea for a p3 stetmann rework lul, but then again the basic concept was borrowed from someone else
Hmm. I was thinking about this suggestion and it’s actually pretty interesting. I suppose we’d have to find someone to actually try to code this and see how it works.
As nice as this is, I don’t think it fits Alarak’s theme. And that’s unfortunate.
I really don’t see how it does? Unless his theme is “being a huge pain in the rear to play”
Just extend the “charge range” to map wide. Whenever a supplicant dies anywhere on the map, one of Alarak’s mech units gets charged (if there is any non full mech unit)

Perhaps it would work to make it so that it’s just like now EXCEPT that if there is no mech units in range, instead of just deleting the buff it drops the buff on the ground so you can pick it up with another mech unit later.

Yes, more Pacman please! I mean that unironically, it’s a cool and flexible mechanic.
Seriously disagree. Abathur/Dehaka Pacman gets annoying.
It is not as bad early game, but later it just gets annoying. (Both of them should have some late game mechanics to pull all the charges in globally)
Soul can’t “wait” unit it get picked. The more relevant suggestion that was here was making soul collection map-wide. Other thing is giving havocs ability to store souls when there are no mech units present, then giving it active ability to transfer those souls to needed unit.

I think if it kept the current functionality and ONLY dropped the pacman on the ground if nothing else was in range it would feel much less like Abathur and much more like Mengsk’s trooper weapons. Or at least that’s what I would hope. I am also quite wary of more pacman.

Oh that’s actually a really good idea.
Well, Protoss don’t have this mechanic to begin with for one.
And then pre-Prestiges, the only stacking is Ascendant, which also doesn’t “drop” when killed.
That’s my take on why I don’t think it make sense, as much as this would make it easier for sure. The cooler mechanic is definitely Chick’s idea, credit where credit is due.
Well you never know with prestiges. They completely upend how some commanders work.
I’d just make supplicants more fragile but also cheaper. Also Alarak’s mech sustain is kinda bad too so one of the supplicant’s upgrades could be replaced with an ability that heals nearby mech unit when supplicant dies.
I personally like it the way it is. Having to pick it up from the ground feels like it would result in sometimes missing drops, which is kinda not what I enjoy.
@Scentmemory you can just not get supplicant shield upgrades and spend the money on early push instead.
I’m talking about unupgraded supplicants. They’re still too durable. Maybe making the being able to attack air will increase their target priority and make them die faster, I dunno.
Oooor you know. Actually play the prestige the way it was designed to be played?
