Advise me on hotkeys please

I set up my hotkeys exactly how I want them. I realized after, that switching between Coop / Campaign / Versus, that it created conflicts. So I created 3 separate profiles after. 1 for each mode. However I still seem to run into problems. For instance, if I play coop matches one day, exit program, load up the next day to play Versus. I have to remember to switch the hotkey profile before I actually enter the versus section. Or else it messes up the previous profile. So I am stuck in a situation where I have 3 hotkey profiles that I am constantly having to fix before playing. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Just do like me and use and learn Grid hotkeys layout. It is far more efficient than standard, serves on any game mode (ladder, campaign, arcade, coop) and a few pros use it like HeroMarine and Stephano.

The first month will be rough and you may think you will not get used but you will adapt and get better with time, believe me.

Thanks. I learned the game using standard. The changes I made are a mix of standard and grid. Worker commands and building hotkeys are standard. Unit abilities are “qwer”. Also any upgrade building is “qwer” because I never memorized the standard keys on those buildings. It would be difficult for me to un-train myself to not make a drone using “SD” or marines using “a”.

You can learn again grid which is way better and optimized than standard. It just needs to ger used to with a bit of time like a month. Even attack move on T is fairly easy to get used to.

Another advsntage of grid is that remains the same logic for all 3 races and makes playing random far easier.

I will consider it and have considered it in the past. However I will see if anyone gives me a solution as to how to alter my keys as I see fit without issues. I appreciate your suggestion. But it is a work around rather than a solution to my question. Please don’t take that the wrong way. Its just the nerd in me wants to master the hotkey editor.

I don’t think there is a way to automatically change your hotkey profiles depending on the game mode you just started.
Though you should have a few seconds in your BO (when the game has already started) to change your hotkey profile. Or you ask for a pause or you just quit the game, change the hotkeys and then play another one.

Here’s a video about some solid hotkeys:

And training those would be possible in a “hotkey trainer lotv” (version with the highest number) at the custom / arcade section.

Thanks. I am currently doing what you suggest. How do I stop the hotkeys from getting messed up though? If the profile is active for the slightest second before changing it. Then things get out of wack. Thats my main issue

I think a better solution for you would be opening another account to play versus and set your hotkeys there. It is free although need to get 10 wins of the day to unlock ranked 1vs1 on a free account.

Heres mine -

From another post:

mines on ` or the tilde key and all army on F1…also 9 and 0 on H and Y. also replace “create control group” (normally ctrl+a number) i delete and replace with the normally alt+a number which is “create control group and take away”. So can rapidly split or assign units to a group w/o having to worry they are in another group still as well. Good for de-selecting units to like send to watch towers and stuff as well. But i still press all army too much and then have to use my ctrl+a number to reassign them to their seperate group after hitting my all army hotkey and shift+1 (my main army), but at least the unit will still be there on the ctrl group to easily re-assign it to separate it from main army group.

Space to cycle bases for larva injecting…i swapped T and A on grid keys too because T to a-move was not very intuitive to me at all and it actually works fine imo for building stuff and whatever as well imo.

…I dont know why the video is only 360p when on my computer its 1440p video and a .mp4 which is what youtube likes (.mp4’s).

There is an arcade map called “Darglein’s Micro Trainer” (a pretty old map from WOL even) and there is a zerg micro task called “1a2a3a4a” with spine crawlers where you attack cows.
It’s really nice to switch from a-move to t-move and train those first 4 control groups. (you can go from 1-4 or from 4 to 1 a different routine).

Yeah i know about that, i like practicing the multitask trainer…

you might also want to try the EU arcade map “multitasking/macro/mechanics/warmup” or something like that.
It’s a WOL but really great to train looking at the minimap.
