A Chinese player's analytic about infestors

As much as I dislike playing against Chinese players on ladder, this deserve some attention.

Not screaming “overpower herp derp nerf derp derp(yes this is what whiners on the forum sound like.)” but it makes a good point of why people perceive infestors the way it is.

Anyway, bear with the audio, watch the subtitles, the content is genuinely interesting.

Good video but one-sided - there are no counters shown and you can actually fly away from infested terrans and Yamato infestors or voidrays so if you scan, neither voidrays nor infestors are great vs. BCs.
Infestors have a huge surprise element if the terran doesn’t scan ahead though.

Also feedback is way, way easier to spam with rapid fire hotkey than fungal and in general:
A counter to a unit counters the unit - big surprise.

You can just use 1 observer and 5 chargelots or blinkstalkers to deal with a group of infestors or disruptors or…
If you use high value units to fight infestors, you should bring ghosts or disruptors or some low value units with you to turn the tide.

tldr: Units that are countered by Infestors are countered by Infestors

If the Infestor needs to be nerfed again, I am sure it will be nerfed again, but mono-battles like that is not what happens in a real SC2 match and doesn’t show the real pictures. Some engagements are shown without detection and with the absolute best engagement possible for Zerg (only happens when your opponent falls asleep as his keyboard). This is just theorycrafting with poor video support.

Also the chinese community is upset that Elazer beat TIME and that’s what started a lot of the balance whine… and this was a match on the last patch without the double Infestor nerf and Ghost/Carrier buffs. We have to take this with a grain of salt.

flank with a warp prism or have them in the back first - it’s all about the ressources lost at the end - not winning without losses.
Again - train the engagement with a partner. Do something useful instead of complaining or I will not take you seriously.
It’s like not doing your homework and complaining about how hard it was.

IF you try it out a couple of times AND STILL have problems, THEN we can talk but not before that.

Neeb did some great blink - stalker flanks vs. infestors - the game he lost vs. Elazor.
Though I’d like to see Neeb vs. Elazor or Raynor or Serral or Stats vs. Serral again with the new patch.

If you can switch around the unit name with other race’s similar role and it still works then the statement is next to pointless.

And honestly pal, I don’t need to prove jack shxt to you. I’m just posting this to show why people perceive infestor the way it is, you don’t like it, don’t look at it and fxxk off.

Don’t stand there and act like an adult scolding a kid when your action contradict that very own statement.

It’s an actual good unit that zerg actually has that actually gives zerg some actual options.

Thors, Carriers, and Marines……… is every single unit in the game? All were as clumped as possible and not controlled at all with full energy Infestors being able to cast all spells without any pressure or map limitations, and were monobattles.

The Infestor could require more adjustments I won’t deny that, but the anti-Infestor QQrusade is done in bad faith right now. At least give the patch more than a week before opening the floodgates of salt.

You know full well that it not the full list of units that are countered by Infestors. Just the list that were used for demonstrations in the video.

The list of units that are not countered by Infestors is much easier to point out:

  • Siege-mode Siege Tanks --Assuming the opponent isn’t smart about throwing IT and that the Tanks aren’t spread far enough to NP one without entering the range of the other Tanks.
  • Disruptors: Assuming they are only used near max range and that you have the vision to avoid Infestors. These still struggle to defend air units or other units from Infestors.
  • Range-upgraded Liberators: Assuming that you have enough supporting Tanks further back to kill all Infested Terran before they pop, and the that Liberators are sieged such that the Infestors cannot get in range to retaliate. The Liberators may have to switch modes before Infestors are close to their max range. Otherwise it is possible for Infestors to close the gap to neural the Liberators before they finish transforming otherwise.
  • Ultralisks: They are immune to both NP and Fungal. They might still go down to IT if you blow all of your energy on them though.

Just about every unit outside of the list I just provided is hard or soft-countered by Infestors.

look guys, the reason why I posted this instead of any other pro games is because it remove any sort of skill and situations(since these are always uncertain variables and most people’s goto excuses) and talk strictly about the FACT and NUMBERS.

Interpret this as you wish. I’m not starting a balance whine thread, but merely stated this video has a point on why people perceive infestors as it is and it bring up a few good points.

Take it then we can discuss. Don’t take it and you can fxxk off. Either way, you do you.

but the points remains.

In my point of view theorycrafting has jack sxxt to do with balance, but hey that’s just me.
