5.09 patch - dll not found

5.09 patch just broke my battle.net. Error dialog says a required dll not found, and to d/l and reinstall Battle.net. I am on Win 10, and run with it fully updated. I use an rtx 2080, geforce driver 471.96.

When 5.0.9 installed for me, before I launched the game, I realized an icon indicated Battle.net also had an update (though that one didn’t start automatically), so I did it before playing.
Maybe check that?

Thanks for the help, but I couldn’t access Battle.net at all after the patch for SCII. I am frustrated by the seeming inability to patch the game w/o breaking something along the way, especially when the error dialog doesn’t give you a link to get to the Battle.net download.

I got the d/l, uninstalled old, installed fresh Battle.net, everything is OK now.

Now, Battle.net tries to update every time after I exit the game.

Yup. Same here. .dll is missing for me after the patch. Cannot do anything other than uninstall and reinstall the whole game.
Is this the microsoft curse everyone has been talking about?

Same thing just started happening to me. But when the game starts up it auto minimizes to the taskbar. When I try maximizing it, the screen goes black for a few seconds then throws me back to the desktop. Checked resource monitor and CPU/GPU are running as if the game is playing though…

How long does Blizzard take to fix this?

Same - I had to delete BNet and reinstall - but also my computer was like it was running two bnets, so there was a conflict. Man… what a mess. I fixed it now :person_fencing: :male_detective: :+1:

Hey Gang,

That happened to me too yesterday. I have to delete. I have Windows 11 on my system now.

will reinstalling the battle net client remove all replays?

I use macOS and when I installed 5.0.9 I don’t think it messed up my BNET launcher but I can no longer launch SC2. It promptly crashes before opening any windows and says “file cannot be found”
