5.0.2 Prestige Changes

Rebalance

  • Tychus
    - Lone Wolf Prestige
    - Bonus damage decreased from 150% to 75%.
  • Developer Notes: We’ll be looking to both revamp and tweak certain prestige talents, including this one, in the coming weeks.

Bug Fixes

  • General
    - The Fear Mutator no longer lasts indefinitely on heroic units.
  • Alarak
    - Canceling Supplicant warp ins no longer grants the bonuses provided by the Artificer of Souls prestige.
  • Stetmann
    - Stetmann’s Oil Baron prestige no longer grants Stetellite Overcharge buffs to units when changing Stetzones.
  • Zagara
    - The Scourge Queen prestige now properly grants Zagara extra Zerglings before level 7.
  • Zeratul
    - Fixed a potential crash that could occur when a player targets a Legendary Legion rally onto Zeratul’s hero icon while Zeratul is undergoing transit via the Void Seeker or a Void Array.

Guess we’ve got the dev’s thoughts on Lone Wolf, eh? Seems a bit much of a nerf for end game, but they do also say they plan on looking at it futher.

Updated for clarity, added dev comment on rebalance and Fear fix. Thanks for pointing out I missed them Leviathan.

What’s the point on playing Tychus P2 now? If solo Tychus is not even stronger than 2 outlaws. I’ll just get back to Tychus P1 with duo Sirius.

If Blizzard does not allow prestige to be strong enough to have any impact then why grind for it?

From the videos I’ve seen, Lone Wolf was kicking azz because players were being skillful in micro-ing, using Medivac, backing off when things got too intense, etc. so there was still skill involved. Not sure if a nerf was really needed for that.

Just to point out, only the Tychus change is a balance change. All the rest are bug fixes.
The Lone Wolf change comes with a disclaimer:

Developer Notes: We’ll be looking to both revamp and tweak certain prestige talents, including this one, in the coming weeks.

Also, the eternal Fear debuff on heroes is fixed.

they should have left non-tychus outlaw dmg the same and only applied the nerf to tychus, like I’d be down with tychus only gets 50% bonus dmg and all other outlaws get the 150% bonus

True, but to be fair both Zag’s and Alarak’s change things a fair bit as well. I’ll update it for clarity though.

Alaraks p1 bug was the only reason to level his prestige, without it he is braindead weak

As someone who just leveled Zag P1 almost to 15… goddammit. At least it was satisfying to cram void thrashers full of scourges a billion games in a row.

Very encouraging that they intend to tweak and rework certain prestiges in the future, though. I was a bit worried due to the lack of communication, but it’s been like, a week or two since 5.0 went live and we already have an update.

Thanks so much, devs! Keep up the good work. And, uh, good luck if you do end up trying to unionize. Fight the good fight.

Spoiler: they mean “nerf”

Spoiler: They’re probably including the ones everyone hates too, like Swann P1, Vorazun P2, Nova P2, and HnH P3 (among others).

Yeah, the devs tend to skew on the side of stronger rather than weaker so I’m expecting buffs for the most part. I’m sure there’s more down the line for Lone Wolf as well.

Also, in case they read this: Update Raynor 3 to remove/alter the tech requirements on the OC and Armory please :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

There’s a video of someone beating brutal with lonewolf tychus while playing with one foot. So, yeah, that’s how much skill you need.

They are going to ruin prestige with nerfs? I hoped they would give buffs and change how someone plays a commander without making that commander weak.

Those skills involved are from the Tychus-main B A S I C S

Like, when your first and second outlaws are neither Nikara nor Rattlesnake, then outlaw micro, medivac micro happens quite often.

Nerfs are fine, as long as they are the right type of nerfs…generally increasing the penalty is better than decreasing the bonus to keep it distinct.

Seems very apparent to the developers that P1 Tychus is very strong.

This, yup. Not that I really enjoy Lone Wolf anyway, but having to separate your squad and deprive yourself of the synergy of using them together for a 75% damage buff? Yeah, no thanks. P1 is now just hands-down stronger, both for versatility and fun factor.

Watching my friend’s Gary zip around in eternal fear dance was pretty amusing while it lasted.

That’s what I was going to suggest on another thread, or the buff not activating until at least two outlaws are on the field so he can’t just solo the game and you can’t just spend all your resources on his grenade upgrades. Or some kind of limitation that forces micro, like the buff having to stack up while moving and/or getting kills, and the longer you idle an outlaw, the more stacks you lose.
