Did he play worse than reynor? Reynor seemed to botch so many critical aspects of ZvP like drone count and army positinon.

can’t blame jet lag for this one

the group rounds are in korea this year LOL

Instead he used warp prism micro for storm drops? I rarely see that being used against banelings.

The storm drops made any styles including ling bane look weak. It’s sad that herO didn’t make it out of that group so we’d get to see more of his PvZ.

He had, what, 4 colossi vs an entire army made of light units, and still lost? Bad. Another time he goes carriers… when reynor already has vipers. Bad. The list goes on and on. Many of those fights were so close that had he simply stutter stepped his army he would have won. Professionals keep going afk as overlords slowly obliterate their mineral line. Bad. Zergs have had to react on a dime vs things like oracles, squeezing out every drone save with spore micro, for years. Where is that quality of play vs overlords which give far more reaction time?

What should he have built against a critical mass of lurkers + hydras w/ viper support instead of carriers?

gateway robo would get shredded. tempests lose without a deathball.

Look buddy, I can’t tell you what to build but I can tell you what not to build: anything non Zerg.

The problem wasn’t the lurkers. The problem was the vipers. Many units can beat lurkers. Plain immortals and a warp prism can do it. The problem is none of that works if he has vipers. You counter that with tempests and feedback any vipers that get in range. Tempest feedback can zone vipers and his only choice is to pounce and you run backwards while dropping storms on the hydras. He went carriers instead. Absolutely no clue why. Carrier high templar cannot zone vipers.

Abduct should cost 100 energy for how strong it is.

Can a Zerg apologist explain to me why I was more impressed with Trap than I was with Elazer?

Tempests are trash in a slug fight like that game was. They need tons of support (more than just HTs). Carriers can actually fight.

25 Infestors beat anything Protoss can have. Trap needs to hit timings. Lategame is a joke on this patch.

Tempests are just trash in general, you make too many and they are useless, you make not enough and they are useless, you make the right amount, and, well, they are still useless, but you die a little less hard than you would otherwise.

Not 25. He had 32 infestors.

He wanted to overkill Toss.

Nope. His hydra count was low because he overmade lurkers. 4 tempests can 1 shot a hydra. He had 4 carriers. Tempests are cheaper and faster to build. In the same amount of time he could have had 6 tempests under the same constraints plus more zealots.

The only way the zerg wins that is if he abducts the tempests but how does the zerg do that, when tempests are so long ranged that they push lurkers away, thus allowing the high templar to roam and feedback vipers? The problem was lurkers zoned the templar which couldn’t feedback the vipers and they abducted the carriers. He lost half his high templar to lurkers by trying to feedback then he lost all his carriers to abduct.

This was a huge misplay and unfortunately one of many. I was very disappointed. The same way I was disappointed when Ty beat PartinG in Code S. Very bad play from PartinG.

That’s all it takes? My god… add another to the column of why you’re an idiot if you ever make a tempest.

Seeing the best Protoss in the world playing flawlessly just to barely scrape out a win against a B tier foreign Zerg.

This must be how Terrans watching Taeja felt during the blink all-in era.

No matter what I say I can take comfort in knowing it will never be as dumb as saying vikings are 5x better at killing workers than oracles. Hero played really bad. That’s obvious to anyone who understands how PvZ works.

Hey dude, I remember when you were talking about using disruptors in PvZ before it was meta. Guess you’re proven right about being ahead of the meta.
