At least a conformation, so this has to be fixed somewhere in the future? Am I right?
Idk, i just talked to someone in discord who has a 144hz monitor, and he said that the spike is totally normal and im an idiot
Ok, i have a little theory:
So, i think WE are experiencing input lag or floaty mouse because WE are not using 144hz monitor (i know it sounds garbage, but hear me out), a couple days ago i tested playing with display based (70 fps) my sim is around 14.5, and it seem that the sim spike wonât spike over that like killfeed sim spike are not go over that and the match sim spike aswell ( usually in normal game, the sim always spiking)
And the guy i was talkin has the 144hz monitor, and he didnât seem to notice or feel the slow or floaty effect of sim spike BECAUSE he has 144hz monitor with his display based (155 fps as far as I remember) we use that cap that right? We are experiencing slowness or floatyness because our monitor is not optimized in over 60 fps MAYBE
But WHY is it only in overwatch, CSGO and osu or even fortnite is fine
Well whoever told you that is the real idiot here. I have an 165hz Monitor with G-Sync and I notice those spike jumps! If he tells you he doesn´t notice anything, he simply don´t understand cause its likely this guy is just a dude who wants to play and just doesnt care about game performance, cause he has no understandings for this.
I can tell you, the difference between Killfeed on and kill feed off on my screen. I will notice some smoother gameplay, with the killfeed off and I play on 165hz. The funny thing is actually if you have a high refresh monitor, yes you can see more FPS and it feels much smoother than 60hz. But if your FPS dips below the refreshrate you will notice it even with G-Sync on. If you run 155FPS on a 60hz display, you would have slightly worse Input lag compared to a 144hz, but your FPS won´t ever fall under your refresh rate in most scenarios, and you should notice actually less lag when dropping frames on a 60hz then on a 144hz.
But, if you noticed it, ur SIM is actually spiking even with or without the killfeed.
Like i just play a couple match and i check my sim with and without the killfeed, it seem that the sim keep spiking around 7-10 (killfeed off), and the same with killfeed on
SoâŚwhat? Wait, it meant that the spike isnât that much of a problem, because the sim is already spiking when a fight happened so the sim spike because of the killfeed is like, uhâŚidk how to explain it tho, it just IDK im confused
And how come the streamer and the pros donât felt the effect of it?
If you have FPS fluctuations then your SIM will spike around, too. So make sure you have stable FPS at the first place and when something appears on the Killfeed you should notice kinda laggy feel when moving your mouse e.g. 180 mouse flip.
My fps in on 155, and NEVER drop, soâŚ
And the laggy feeling when doing a 180, yea, i felt it
So how come the pros or streamer donât feel it
I have seen some videos of Taimou and Seagull complaining in their streams that their Input Lag is sometimes messed up. They go into the options to enable and disable reduce buffering to fix that problem, which maybe fixes it for the first 2-3 sec but goes back to unstable FPS. Their FPS is not stable when playing ranked and they dont complain that often, cause the game overall runs maybe âokâ and they just got used to this like everybody who don´t have time and the need to discuss this and just want to play, cause they have other worries. Overall I would say Overwatch runs ok, too. But sometimes performance gets really bad and FPS is just broken and messes with your Input (Even when CPU and GPU are under 90% Usage you still see some Framedrops), it is also Map related. Plus in addition the Killfeed affects your Input lag especially when going for multikills.
This doesnât seem to happen when you have your FPS capped and have the potential the go over the cap. When I switch my FPS setting to max 300, I start at 6.5 then go up to 9.1, otherwise on my 60hz display based 70fps cap, I stay a consistent 14.3
Can confirm this. The third SIM number jumps from ~6.5 to 8-9.5 (and in a few cases, all the way up to 21!) I only tested on my own kills in the practice range, but disabling the kill feed did get rid of the SIM spikes. Iâm running with display-based cap at 162 to take advantage of g-sync.
Ikr, i already said above tho ^^
But playing capped 70 felt, idk, Slow~
50 reply yet blizzard ignore the heck out of us
edit: Ok, so 70 fps is a stable 14.5 sim, so⌠if the sim wonât spike above 12, than if i capped my fps at above 70 which mean around 14.5 - 100 fps (9.9 sim), than i could get high fps with a stable sim
my current is 75 fps (13 sim) iâll crank it up if i felt slowness
Edit: NVM my game is choppy as fk
Ok, is this even a bug at this point, im starting to lose hope with this game
Iâve actually stopped playing with the killfeed on altogether, even on my primary accounts Iâve just decided to pay more attention to the match itself and deal with it, because on hitscan my performance is incredibly more consistent with it off. I play at 300fps nearly solid all the time, while streaming, and have enough stream footage for proof of this + several friends who all play at high levels corroborating this issue too, and itâs not a hardware issue since we all have different levels of optimization and all dust properly.
Fix ur broken game blizz.
This gets just ridiciolous. And still no answer from Blizzard, taking action of this problem.
Its about time!
is it fixed yet?..
Nope. Still the same Input Lag spikes and âTurning Killfeed offâ is like âreduce your input lagâ as an option.
Ok, so iâve been asking some streamer about this problem, some of them ignore me, and some reply, some of my recent reply was from seagull, he stated that Sim spike is nothing but an fps connection, if the spike is happened than it has to be my fps problem
THE only problem i had been experiencing is NOT Screen tearing, bad fps, or anything in my screen or in gameplay
My ONLY problem is my mouse movement, it felt Floaty and slow, when some fight happened, i donât know if im the only one or maybe some people experiencing this, but idk if it just me, or it IS a problem with the sim spike
Remember, my pc is a budget, but i can play on 200+ fps, i capped it on 120 fps cause the mouse felt better, but sometimes the floaty or slowness still occurred
Seagull is right about that. SIM value is basically 1 divided by your FPS. It is not an absolute indicator for input lag.
BUT it is one of the indicators for it.
What I mean is that you can have a low SIM value, but still get input lag from other external factors like faulty hardware, bad cables, electrical issues and most commonly, misbehaving drivers (Realtek and Nvidia virtual audio drivers are notorious for making mice feel floaty).
But on the other hand, if you have consistenly high SIM, something is probably wrong somewhere and you most likely have some input lag (at least higher than what youâd have with low SIM).
The problem we have here is that the kill feed IS causing a spike in SIM, and even it is for a split second, it mouse input feel floaty. Now in a busy team fight with lots of abilities going out, and lots of kills happening one after the other, it seems to add up.
but do feel like maybe the sim spike is normal? cause there isnât much thread talking about this and well, maybe itâs not a bug? idk
