You should not gain xp for endorsing someone

People will spam endorsements for the xp not actually using the system for its intended purpose. Later on people will have a high endorsement level just by playing and not by being a good teammate. The high level will mean nothing to people because majority of players will have it. I understand that the xp is to encourage people to use it, but the rewards should only go to someone who is being a good teammate, shot caller, etc… The drive to want to endorse someone should be the desire to help that good player in some way, not to help themselves.

Any amount of xp is enough to get someone to mindlessly endorse no matter how small the reward

Even if someone is “spamming” endorsements, 3 out of 11 people isn’t a lot, or to put it another way, if you are in someone’s top 3 out of 11, you probably do deserve it.

Also, we don’t know how the decay works.

Third, the real goal isn’t to increase a number next to your name, it’s to encourage nice behaviour, which is achieved by wanting to be in that top 3 out of 11, and that works better if the 3 endorsements are actually being given out every time, which in turn works better if you get a small reward for endorsing.

I wonder how many people wouldn’t bother if you didn’t get exp…

Normally if you are spamming you don’the even know whether that person was a good teammate or not. You are choosing at random majority of the time. On the otherhand if you weren’t spamming and were genuinely trying to say that someone on your team made an impact on you or the game then it reflects better in that person’'s endorsement level.

I left 3 endorsements just sitting there to rot last match because nobody deserved them

:man_shrugging:

missing 150 xp wont kill me and i’ll have plenty of other matches of other better players to endorse instead.

Really? There’ve been plenty of times when I myself updooted people just to use up the three, but even then I give a cursory thought to who I endorse. It doesn’t take longer than a second.

Believe it or not there are people who would endorse someone if they think they deserve it. For the simple fact of they want to promote that kind of behavior.

I thought the xpisfor others and not yourself?

Oh well, its good I guess. It kind of helps others since their being endorsed.

No doubt, but I bet a large portion wouldn’t bother if they didn’t get something out of it.

That may be what you feel, others may not. only one way to know for certain they are doing it genuinely, and that’'s by removing xp

But if you remove the exp, it becomes the other extreme - everyone will forget it is even there.

maybe they can reduce the amount per match or per day.

Then they don’t really care about the endorsement one way or another

Sorta sounds more like encouraging a child to misbehave even more by offering candy to encourage this behavior…

I time will come when people stop caring about exp… trust me. Well at least during non-event times.

I could care less about exp, but I guess it doesn’t matter for me anyways. I just play Mystery Heroes and you can’t give out endorsements in that mode.

Don’t you think that people would try harder to be a good teammate if the endorsments were more of a rare occasion. Say you don’t get on some one’s top three if people are spamming you are bound to get it one of the games that you play

I think you just proved my point lol

Guilty. I’m not participating in Overwatch’s good boy points system unless I’m getting something out of it.
