When was the last time we’ve released a new hero that was actually known and had hype behind them? Not since Doomfist. Like I understand that releasing unknown ones can create hype and be cool and all but seriously I am losing hype for the old npcs.
When Réunion came out I was hyped for echo. Then came Ashe but I was still hyped. Then came Baptiste and I was like, OK still excited. Now we get this guy and he may even be the best thing ever but I don’t even care about that floating thing that was in mccrees short anymore.
I guess my point is, you have like 10 + characters with lore and design already. Capitalize on them while we still remember who junker queen and sanjay are

Echo looked lame, tbh. Also if you just keep dwelling on literally every character they ever speak of you’re gonna have a lot of unfounded hype.

You act like Sigma just showed up at Blizzard HQ one day fully created and ready to go.
He’s likely been in development as long as or longer than any one of those Side-Pieces you’ve listed there.

I generally prefer the “unknown” characters myself. Doomfist and Brigitte both felt like trainwrecks for gameplay, as their designs were more concerned with “What would that character do?” rather than “What can we add to the game?”
Plus most of the characters that people keep begging to add would make little sense as in-game combatants. I’ll take the unstable gravity sorcerer we’ve never heard of over some random office worker with a name any day.

Who has never been promised to be a hero. They said they had plans for her, and you’re just gonna have to wait because they have other plans first.
Their plans for her might not even be as a hero.
The only ones “losing hype with heroes” are the people who assume their favorite side-character is their next main.

After ana nothing really manages to impress me anymore.
Sigma kinda makes me a bit more exited compared to the last few disasters but he doesn’t seems like my cup of tea tbh.
This guy is more hype then if we had gotten characters we know. I like this guy more than any of the roster.

I actually prefer Sigma’s release over Doomfist. I’m sorry but not every hero needs to be heavily hinted at/have been somewhere in a map in the game since launch to be “hype” or in a comic/short story. I was not hype for Doomfist at all to be honest…

Yeah. There also doesn’t seems to be anyone else atm who sticks out.
Doomfist was actually a big deal at the time but if we look back to the current candidates, none of them seems important.
The wait for Doomfist was huge. He was a terrible addition but people were hunting for him everywhere. This is like the 5th or 6th character they dropped that nobody has heard of
I don’t think they need to be important or have existing lore in a map somewhere or lore in a comic or short story. As long as their character design and abilities are unique and their origin story is interesting then that is what makes people want to play the hero. In my opinion, Sigma has gotten A LOT of hype and I’ve seen a lot of people saying it’s a very good origin story/one of the best/the best.
I am more hyped for sigma than any other realised so far hero.

Who cares about wether the hero was known or not ?
All that counts is the gameplay and the fresh air that new hero can bring to the game.
Would it be an unknown pink elephant, wouldn’t bother me that much.

I mean I was hyped for the junker queen when the junkertown dropped abut after the first month I don’t even care anymore.
I feel like with Sigma tho we are gonna get more lore. He seems to be tied to someone or something in the overwatch universe so the link is there its just they havent revealed it yet. All we know is hes part of talon or going to be.
I would not say no to a female soldier with slightly different abilities.
