Lifegrip is already against the support philosophy they made going into OW2.
And is now the most hated ability in OW2. (see players throw after being saved by it.)
Healing Turrets is similar enough and more “forgiving”…
Why couldn’t Lifeweaver just be another turret hero?

I won with him four times today and lost 27 times. No I’m not joking.
The four times we won there was a Lifeweaver on the other team.
I often had the highest heals on either team and the lowest deaths, and lowest kills.
I saved hundreds of people today and two of them were grateful.
Tanking my rank to really test LW has destroyed this account. Lol.
Healing turrets is a great idea. Remove Lifegrip immediately.

A hero who just heals? Like Moira? How is she doing rn in ow2?

Healing turrets again? This crap comes up way too often.
You know what the problem with this is? The people you want to heal with them will never be around them. They will take off and then there will be no healing. Or they will be completely oblivious, as they are oblivious to health packs
Oh and then you have them being killed and right. What are you going to do? Tell them to stand in one specific spot and protect your healing turrets? Hahahahahaha. The player base expects that you are a robot whose sole goal is to keep them alive when you do support, which is why people can’t even fathom about non trolling uses of Life grip. It’s all about them!
It really doesn’t matter about the non trolling uses of life grip when there are no protections for when it is used that way. When you do get a troll lifeweaver or a lifeweaver gets annoyed enough to start trolling, they just own the lobby, no one can do anything to them or stop them from using the grip. The reporting system is also pretty broken for this purpose since they need to do this across multiple games and be reported multiple times per game to have even a warning issued to them.
I’d say Life Grip is fine. Wouldn’t mind a small cooldown reduction. Played a bit of Lifeweaver myself(16 hours) and played with a lot of Lifeweavers. Most times the grip was very much needed and saved me or a teammate. Even if the grip was bad, I could understand their thought process.
I’ve been in numerous games and haven’t seen it. Hell, unless you’re actually predicting your own teams ulting (which wouldn’t be easy if the team isn’t working with you), it’s unlikely. How many people troll with mei wall? How come we don’t have hordes of divas or soldier 76 complaining that they blocked his ult?
The histrionics are out of control. Everybody is acting like Iraq has weapons of mass destruction.
People have always been upset with mei players who put bad or troll walls down, mei just isn’t meta or commonly played. Even if you haven’t personally seen it, I can say pretty confidently it has been happenning, especially if you queue on tank. Plenty of support players in ranked right now have a short fuse and will start yanking their tank around without a care in the world. As opposed to mei wall, I have no way to play around this, it disables my movement and puts me somewhere else forcibly.
Why can’t Widowmaker just have a rocket launcher?
Life Grip is horrible, I am utterly shocked that no one at Blizz looked at this ability and instantly realized this is the ultimate troll ability, and even if used in a non troll mentality is just going to screw over the majority of players cause the player using it has NO idea what the plans of the player they are using it on. You never should give players the unfettered ability to control other players.
I think the problem is that Blizz doesn’t play on live servers. They play on pre-release test clients with internal people and influencers/streamers. Those types of people are not going to troll because they don’t want to risk their job or reputation with Blizz by acting in bad faith.
Then when it gets to live servers and people are playing up against randoms that they will play with once, never see again, and there’s exactly 0 repercussions or safeguards stopping them from being as nasty as possible, guess what they do.
You’re making my point then. If he’s not going to be meta or strong then nobody is going to pick him just like how nobody picks mei (so there is very little trolling). And if you really want to talk about trolling? Why don’t we bring Road hog into the equation? Just
self heal continually and purposely soak up damage from the enemy team so you give them ult charge. Why does nobody scream about this? Having the enemy team farm ult off you seems more damning then an invincibility skill.
I always see the tanks overextended, like they need a rear-view mirror. Rein up so far that nobody can even use his shield? People so far away that no healer with auto targeting abilities are in range or can even have line of sigh? Yeah, it’s being pulled back. Sorry y’all, what you thought were amazing plays were actually just you going bloodthirsty and almost getting yourself killed. Happens to everybody, just now you die less when the life grip pulls you back to reality.
It’s the same recycled arguments all over again. None of those situations remove your player agency. There’s a reason why stuns were taken out in OW2. People hate having control taken from them in an FPS game. Stuns and CC were removed and reduced as much as possible to make people happy. People don’t like having a support with the ability to at any moment take their control away, and doubly so when that friendly support can instantly drop you in a pit with no ability to counter from you at all.
That just it, your way to play does NOT supersede my way period and you shouldn’t have an ability to force your way.
