It seems like a large amount of players attempt to do so, more-so newer users it looks like.
There isn’t any in-game guidelines on how Custom Games should be ran and what isn’t allowed, or I just can’t instantly see something such as that.
Every time I browse through Custom I click that little report button every time I see one, and get spammed with “Thanks” the next time I log in.
It doesn’t seem like enough people understand that this isn’t allowed, and there’s no apparent sign saying to not make these “XP Farm” Custom Games.
It’s pretty obvious what other crude and inappropriate things people really shouldn’t do in Custom, but smaller and less “harsh” actions such as this needs to be pointed out better for users.

oh my god THANK YOU. I get these thank you spams every time i boot up the game because I frequent the Game Browser and report all of these AND the 18+ rooms.
Yet they show literally no sign of diminishing and it pisses me off. it feels like the Game Browser has been left to rot

No one woudl farm if they just have got rid of the exp gain or at least have made it half of the regular exp.
I wasn’t calling for any changes to exp in Custom. It’s a good thing that they at least give a fraction for a game so people who really enjoy sitting around in Custom lobbies still get something out of their playtime.
It would be horrible if they removed experience gain entirely.

Just automatically detect the words “AFK” “XP” “Lootbox” and “Farming” in game titles, and give a warning to that user as well as anyone that joins that if they make/participate in an AFK farming lobby, they risk getting banned.

That was acually Blizzard’s initial plan if ppl keep farming and they still does.
Even if they put rules on visible place, people will still farm. They just won’t do it in the titles of the room.
Players wouldn’t instantly notice and go to these apparent XP Farm lobbies though. People are free to do anything in Custom (as long as they’re not idling until they’re kicked or avoiding idlekick with automatic programs) So it’d be too hard to distinguish who is “farming” and who isn’t. They’d have to knock out a whole lot of a few certain types of lobbies that lead to inactivity and the ability to sit around in a lobby. Otherwise, other lobbies are “active” and plainly playing the game is “farming” experience.
What tilts me is that these “XP Farm” lounges exist, but when I go to spend dozens up dozens of hours in Skirmish practicing my aim against bots I get diddly squat. It doesn’t make sense that people can chat and bot for XP, but actual practice gives nothing.

At this point i think i’ts pointless to try and argue, let the people do it if they feel like they accomplish something with their actions.
That’s true lol I think you should earn xp in the practice range if you’re active (meaning you’re not just standing still and farming)
I get why farming games are bad, no one should get free xp for nothing. But I’d much rather the adult chat room type games get addressed first. It’s almost all I see on my Xbox copy of the game and it’s frightening how prolific they are.

Not to XP farms, go ahead and report them, but I’d have a hard time with people reporting custom games for their silly names, it can be a bad joke or just anything and they report it, that’s when I go “Why do you care?”, unless it’s a clear violation such as racism, sexism and so on in the title.
As you said yourself, there is really no stopping this, if players want to XP farm they will do it regardless.
If they want to crack down on “XP Farming” They’ll have to do more than this, It’s pretty obvious the “chill” lobbies are a little off since no one is actually playing and no one can kill eachother. If they actually care to do something about “farming” They’d have to do something against these invincilobbies that people just sit in.
Otherwise they shouldn’t do anything at all and just give up on letting people report others for farm lobbies, since they’re also not pointing out for everyone that creating farm lobbies isn’t allowed, so, so many players and new players are sitting in Custom making these lobbies thinking it’s alright to do so.
Obviously if some one gets that little ol’ message or whatever happens when you’re reported and warned over these lobbies, then they’d understand but that is a really terrible way of dealing with such a thing.
They need to decide on what’s what and give blatant and obvious guidelines on how Custom Games should be ran, before this, they shouldn’t do anything at all. (obviously unless there’s something having to do with racism, profanity, harassment and inappropriate lobbies, then they’d act regardless of who, what, where, when and why, This post is referring to everything that doesn’t go into this category, such as “XP Farming” and whatever other ideas or actions people have that aren’t initially harmful)

I want to take another note about this post entirely for anyone else who comes across it, I never made this with the intent of changing how experience works. I just want them to give some sort of in-game guidelines or rule set that’s accessible to players.
No one would know about XP Farms being considered a bad thing if players didn’t come on the forums or watch little videos that come from whoever, ages back now, about such things.
Especially, mentioning again, newer players who have not a clue about the possibility of something like this being a rule that isn’t shown anywhere in-game, since not everyone watches everything and looks around in the forums because they just want to play Overwatch.
but why do you even care in the first place, level in this game means absolutely nothing and all you get from it is cosmetic items.

Why would you care about replying to this at all if it’s something that you consider that doesn’t matter, or bring up either of those things?
This is a matter of people being warned/reported for such problems. I did reference a number of times this isn’t about Experience/leveling itself. Please read and understand what you’re replying to before saying anything.
There is no possible way to farm in custom, and the over 18+ rooms are running JOKE. You people need to chill and take that stick up your butt.
