I’m sorry, but this is unacceptable. The fact that you’re trying to subtly pin responsibility on the player base is shocking. It has now been four months.
We shouldn’t have to go through a list of temporary fixes every time we decide to play the game or the bug decides to manifest itself. Don’t you see how that’s laborious and unnecessary and not a long-term solution? Furthermore, the bug can come at random times. I’ve had it happen while I was in a competitive queue - chat worked fine in the lobby and then didn’t once I got into the game. I can’t hard reset my Xbox in that situation.
Additionally, you must be aware that many players understandably will simply not perform these temporary fixes over and over again and they’ll just give up trying to use communication. Many players I talk to in chat acknowledge the recent issues but aren’t aware it’s a known bug you are supposedly working on fixing (again, a banner would have helped in this regard, but the notable absence of one while the problem has persisted makes me question your efforts here).
As a combination of all the elements above, the game has been significantly damaged in my view. Since the bug has run rampant and impacted a wide scope of players for months, communication has been steadily decreasing as a new normal sets in of silent matches. It’s like a domino effect. Many, many games are now just me and one other person in chat, or just me. I think many gave up even going into team chat.
The bottom line is that your response to this issue has been problematic and doesn’t reflect the fact that many people love your game and want to play it properly. Not to mention all the money people have spent buying skins, loot boxes, etc., only to then have a bug severely cripple the game’s playability and be seemingly ignored by the powers that be.
For me it’s been happening since I started playing the game. It says I connected but I’m not joining any party if that is what is meant to happen? I’ve tried multiple headphones and changing and turning off all the settings. We have also changed the router and it still doesn’t work.
Basically, when you press the xbox button on the controller you have your headsets plugged in, if you go to the section that says “Profile & System”, you can see a section that’s named “Audio”. If you go to it, you can turn your headset mic off and on.
So what I usually do is go in practice range game chat, see it doesn’t work, go out of game chat, turn the headset off through audio, then turn it back on, then go back into game chat, and I keep repeating it until it works.
If it doesn’t work at all then sorry, but it’s been working for me.
Got on 3 days ago after not playing for 3 months, figured maybe it’s been fixed by now. I could actually talk! All day too! Get on the next 3 days and it’s the same ole problem. How has this been going on for this long??? 1 patch breaks the game for a large amount of players and you just straight up ignore it for months? Straight up trash support system. For a game that’s gets updated constantly I would expect better, but hey it’s console so obviously it doesn’t matter right?
I’ve bought two headsets since this issue thinking it was something wrong on my end as overwatch is almost exclusively the game I CHOOSE to play. I’ve been an Xbox gamer for over 10 years so I’m confident I could troubleshoot a small issue like voice not working. Alas, I’ve had no luck and done everything I could think of including the tips mentioned in this thread. Blizzard, at this point you may as well not release OW2 on Xbox. We need a fix. Better late than never
Well the ongoing issues (plus various others in-game) have resulted in a double uninstall; I’ve taken OW off my PC and off my Xbox. The game isnt fun anymore and I needed the comms for Xbox as the PC version obviously still has a chat function for comms, the console does not. It’s been a good 3 years but the time has come. Good luck fixing this, maybe once it’s fixed I’ll consider reinstalls.
This is the most frustrating thing ever and its been forever. Please fix this its borderline making the game unplayable for me. does it really take this long to fix?
Okay so I got mine to work last week and so far its still working as of last night. I have been on here for some time with this problem so hopefully my experience will help someone.
I looked at the Bliz help thing which recommended reseting my sound options (in the options menu). I have done this before when the problem arose. But I did it again and reset my game to Xbox home. I booted Overwatch back up (make sure mic is connected before booting game back up) and went into sound setting, and the chat option was “push to talk.” So I switched it to “open mic.” Which I have tried and it would always be open to where I can’t turn it off, and everyone on my team hears everything.
After doing that I went into a game and it worked. I could turn it off/on with mic settings and everything. So I am guessing somewhere I did something right and reset the mic system. What I think is that either the hard reset on the Xbox or maybe updating my controller worked. But I had to reset my sound options and change the option back to open. I don’t think I reset my sounds options after I did this stuff months ago. It’s the only thing I can figure.
