Who do you guys think is the worst designed characters.
For me I think Roadhog takes the Cake
They basically just made dps as a tank and somehow thought it’d be fine, the only good thing he had was a cheesy one shot combo that he could do on any squishy, that’s not fun, nor well desgined to make a character with only one good trait.
for me in 2nd is Widow, they gave the go to best sniper that can instantly wipe people out of the fight instantly from the safety of a football field away a mine to help against flankers and an ult that completely counters them and somehow thought that was a good design “ah yes lets give the character you’re suppose to flank, abilites to make them harder to flank, what could go wrong!”
and for 3rd I’d have to go Sombra, the concept of a character instead of sneaking up but instead of going for the kill themselves they disable the target and sic their team on them seems like a cool concept, but 8 times out of 10 you’re better off just killing them yourself, but making a character who can do that easily and be invis is op so yeah there’s no good middle ground.

Kiriko and Orisa bc their kits are overloaded.
Kiriko gets tp, cleanse, wall climb, a 2-tap, and an ult thats an insta win button.
Orisa gets armor, dmg mitigation as both an ability and on ult, projectile deleting, a hard stun and a pull.
If you can’t find value out of these characters, especially Kiriko, then you’re just a bad player. Easy value.

orisa wasnt always like she is in ow2 her kit was way different and sometimes even more fun

Mercy, pharah, moira, orisa and reaper.
Mercy is terrible hero design because she is 100% about transform good heros on monsters. Oh yeah and rez a tank on 5vs5 is broken!!
Moira dont have utility and she is too easy to get value on metal ranks
Reaper another too low efffort / high rewards on metal ranks
Orisa another tutorial hero
Pharah especially with nercy…

Widow, mercy, sombra, ball.
Widow speaks for itself, a hitscan one shot with a charge rate of 0.9 seconds that deals 300 in crit.
Mercy damage boost is still annoying
Sombra is either too good or straight trash
Ball is the same as sombra.

For me, it’s the DLC supports. Every single one of them except Lifeweaver has the syndrome of being able to do too much at once instead of doing one thing at a time. They’ve been single-handedly ruining the game since July 2016.
Ignoring how terrible his passive is and how annoying Lifegrip is, Lifeweaver is exactly how supports are supposed to be designed. Characters with high utility get low healing. And vice versa

Widow. I play a lot of open queue and the fact that she can one shot Doom, Ramattra and JQ kinda sucks.

I know we complain about all types a heros, snipers, burst etc etc. But kiriko s the only hero I feel was truly truly poorly designed. She just has WAAYY to much her lits extreamly over bloated, like Suzu literally does everything but damage, I’m not even joking like who thought that was okay on a ability?
I legitmeatly can’t think of a worsely designed hero, besides I guess widow but she was clearly designed for ow1 not 2 so there’s that, but no kiriko was clearly designed with ow2 in mind and shes just soooooo packed.
Widow, Ana and Junker Queen.

Ana due to the fact that there is so little counterplay to her anti-nade. Unless you get a Kiriko on your team, you’re kinda screwed. Especially since she counters Junker Queen, Roadhog and so many other people with self-regenerating abilities. It’s highkey stupid. They should 100% make Mercy have a purify ability of her own or something. Since, you know, its her stolen technology.
And Junker Queen… she’s fun, but, thanks to Ana’s existence… eugh. So hard to play. :\

I’d put kiriko or ana above widow because widow was at least widow was clearly designed with ow1 in mind. But in ow2 she definitely seems like the worst designed hero on the market.
I’d argue that Ana has the exact same problem with her nade.

Yeah I can see that to tbh.
There are a couple different trains of thought for poorly designed characters. There are the gimmick characters that are eternally stuck in noob stomper limbo, where they only ever see use in low ranks and can’t be buffed to see use in higher tiers because of how they would absolutely dominate lower brackets. Then there are oppressive characters who can’t be reasonably balanced because their kit is just inherently busted.
Gimmick: Moira, Reaper, Junk, Hog
Oppressive: Ball, Widow, Pharah, Sombra
If ball would have never been invented, if he had never been in the game heck I’ll even go as far as saying we’d still have 2cp, that hero is VERY poorly designed/thought out.
Lifeweaver
He does no healing, little damage and his utility is extremely situational
