Why Would Anyone Use a M+KB on a Console?

It doesnt have it bevause it has never been tested… ??? Duh?

Adding native KBM support is easy on all platforms. It has probably been excluded from the game intentionally to appease controller players (business). It’s a different story that they can’t ban KBM-to-controller adapters so not having native KBM support isn’t a huge difference.

I have always been a PC player but played a lot of console games too (some of my friends have consoles and I was a game developer). However, if I had a console I’d absolutely want native KBM support in first person shooters especially in the competitive PvP variants.

Controllers can be used sitting on a comfortable sofa. That’s how I play some of my side-scrolling games on PC. Occasionally I’d be OK with trading aim accuracy for comfort in PvE shooters. However, doing the same in PvP shooters makes no sense.

Using controller in a PvP shooter means putting yourself at a huge disadvantage. In competitive sports people always find the most effective ways that aren’t or can’t be banned. Even if we had no KBM-to-controller adapters today, implementing one isn’t that difficult. I’m confident that I could create one from scratch and calibrate it to a specific game within a few days or weeks (using the inexpensive Arduino platform).

All platforms have KBM support - its the game and its developers that decide to disable KBM gameplay

I made a mistake and misunderstood your conversation in which you mentioned the testing of a KBM related feature. I assumed the feature to be “native KBM support” when in fact you referred to the separation of controller and KBM players.

IMO trying to separate controller and KBM players would be a waste of time. How would you detect sophisticated KBM-to-controller adapters (to prevent KBM users from gaining advantage against controller users)? In case of competitive PvP shooters KBM is the way to go. Controller = disadvantage.

The same way that othee games under more niche companies have done?

That’s a war they can’t win. I wish them good luck in that arms race!

How can a top company not implement a feature which recognises KMB input, and places those people on crossplay servers? The games physically have to recognise which input you play with and Overwatch already has that detection on PC.

Some players would still use KBM-to-controller adapters to disguise themselves as controller users.

Controller users will always be at a disadvantage in competitive PvP shooters.
