I don’t get it. He has everything zarya has but better. His attacks go through barriers so no shield counter, he doesn’t have to charge up his weapon, he has a team shield rather than little bubbles on 10s cooldown. His nemesis form is ridiculously long with insane amount of armor and infinite block. His ult is better. He has movement speed bonus. And if you have a brain and cycle nem form + shield he has no downtime.
The amount of bad “tank” players who have 0 skill on the role and swap to ram and start winning after getting completely destroyed is a complete joke. This hero is so overtuned lol.
Probably because Ramattra does require some brainpower to cycle cooldowns. He is also very mortal, despite his toughness, and will quickly die if he’s out of position with no tricks.
Zarya is just what you pick when the enemy Ashe and Genji are popping off, so it’s clearly the D.Va’s fault and you want to ruin someone’s five minutes before the match is over.
Why play zarya at all? Bubbles? Mauga gives bubbles to the entire team with his E. 100 Charge? Mauga has infinite 100 charge. Ult? Mauga’s ult is the same but better.
Her damage is insane, she has one of the best ults in the game, and she can cleanse negative effects with her bubbles also I don’t think she really has a tank counter, which is a massive bonus in this 5v5 counter the tank to win world.
I do not understand how that is true, though.
Zarya has bubbles she needs to manage on a 10 second cooldown.
Ram has:
A basically immortal 4s shield on a 13 second cooldown. Thats the duration of 2 zarya bubbles combined.
A “I can’t die for 8 seconds” cooldown on a 7 second cooldown.
Like, I would honestly go as far as saying ram has objectively an easier time managing cooldowns by FAR. The amount of skill he requires is next to nothing.
Oh yeah for sure, I’m not saying zarya isn’t more fun/has a higher skill ceiling with tracking/bubble management + doesn’t have awesome pink bubbles that make nice sounds when shot at. But yeah, rams pretty overtuned.

dont shoot bubbles (difficulty impossible). Her damage is really not that good. Even at max charge she’s just does like soldier damage but close range
I’m just speaking from experience. I find Ram more complex to play and easier to fight than Zarya, though that might be due to sampling bias.
I see Ram more when I’m on support or damage, and I don’t have much trouble fighting or escaping him then. He also tends to pick a position and hold it until he decides to go Star Platinum and punch my team to death, but even then his punches are nothing like the constant output of Zarya’s laser pool noodle, and can be somewhat avoided.
Zarya usually comes out when I’m on tank (because I almost always start on D.Va unless it’s Havana Defense), and it’s next to impossible to fight her alone as the tank. She either rolls me no matter who I switch to, or she gets curbstomped because she’s a desperation swap with no hours and her team doesn’t support her, so I don’t even have to switch.
Both tanks, however, almost always come out after the first fight. The first tank is usually Roadhog, Mauga, or Orisa.
She has higher dmg when charged, and does better vs certain heroes than ram. Ram is the better tank overall me thinks, but vs like orisa or dva, id rather be on zarya.

I know what you mean, it’s not fun for the d.va against zarya, agree there needs to be adjustments in that match up. But ram is definitely overtuned and better than zar for sure.

Altho I get yelled at by my team mates for playing rein into zar and end up swapping eventually, so I still think he’s good into that match up.
It’s sorta like the d.va vs zarya thing. Zaryas stupidly good against d.va, but in most other cases ram is better. (Ram is pretty good against d.va too tho)
A Zarya who can keep their charge high is basically unbeatable in terms of raw damage as a tank. Ram CAN do good damage, but it’s not the same amount or level of consistency as Zarya
Zarya is better than Ram at close Ranges. Sure Ram has Hulk Mode at the same ranges with good Defense when blocking but outside of Ult, he can’t attack while blocking and Hulk form makes him a larger target with low range.
Zarya can tank and hold an Ultimate Rampaging Ram with her Ult.
The only advantage Ram has over Zarya is poke range.
yeah true i think zarya counters junker queen more than she counters dva
the fact that they both have the same effective range, both are low mobility and not able to take off angles, you have to play 110% as junker queen to get the same value against a zarya
