Why people pick Dva

Dva rewards bad behaviour, Secondary life. No reload shotguns. Toss and forget bomb.

80% of dva players tend to find themselves shooting at shields, you can bet they would never do that with any other hero.

Theres also a group on gods green earth, that somehow found a game mechanic of absorbing as much poke dmg as they can. Where is a jeff when you need 1?
Hell i bet some take more dmg then reins shield, weve been playing her wrong guys.

And of course dvas find more value in main tanking then peeling or taking care of high ground, so much so that shield tanks get kited in to their demise.

Who needs a tracer when the enemy dva splits their team anyway, say goodbye to your supports who for 1 reason or another dont get peeled either way when pocketing a dva.

Perhaps when dva is fixed to become more than a throw pick we’ll see more impactful plays.

For now, she barely works in situations she was designed for.

Couldn’t possibly be because they enjoy her design, mechanics, playstyle, or any of that stuff. Nah.

playing d.va and still making her work is more entertaining than playing something stoic and established.
i don’t want free wins, i want a win when i deserve it.

hence i play d.va because people don’t think you can win with her.

thats cool, now i see her as a niche just like torb or symm. but i mean when even gold and below players agree with masters and up on things, maybe theres something there. i mean when was the last time that happened.

Dva’s not even on the niche tier.

She’s an active detriment to any team comp and she’s taking up a slot for a tank out of a very limited roster.

Coming from a dva main since season 2.

well d.va is kinda like genji in a way in peoples perception, d.va has never been good in low rank plays because people don’t know how to utilize her well enough to get enough value with her compared to a zarya or a reinhardt.

same thing would probably be comparible to the difference between genji and reaper, reaper has allways been a bit of a nightmare in lower ranks, mean while genji has been too difficult to utilize in those games.

however when the meta shifts away from genji and d.va in high ranks, ofcourse it’s gonna align with the views of the lower ranked playerbase because that’s how it’s allways been.

the lower ranks tiers don’t change that drastically, but in higher ranked tiers the meta shifts pretty much from patch to patch.
it’s about time it actually lined up for once in the history of the game.

honestly really not surprised about it either.

but i do think this whole meta tier list doesn’t really apply to any place except maybe masters rank and above.

I pick D.Va because I enjoy her rather unique playstyle. I have enjoyed her throughout the life of the game, both in her high and low states.

This isn’t a new thing for me. I’m not playing her because she’s bad and I’m meming.

Why do people make these dumb topics?

that’s a lot of hours!

Some form of validation would be my educated guess.

For fun, cause it sure isn’t to win games.

Although sometimes you win anyway.

Sad that the only way to play D.Va without throwing is to have a gentlemen’s agreement with the other team, silent or otherwise, allowing both teams to play her.

Instead of talking about throw picks, i wanted to talk about the people who play throw picks. Are the people who buy a video game removed from critique?

Being antagonistic isn’t a legitimate form of critique.

letting them fester in the cycle of insanity, is why i piped up about it. since i never liked dva, i guess im not qualified to talk about it. in that line of logic the only instance of this not being a problem is when she gets buffed which is going to be years in the making.

who needs faster buff/ nerf patches when we can just play the same old throw picks?

A lot of people play a character whose concept they like, and whom they find attractive personally.

Moira has good skills and mechanics, but she’s hideous and has an evil personality. Mercy has been nerfed significantly, but she’s a lovely angel doctor, so Mercy has more fans than Moira.

D.Va is a crazy but really pretty anime girl in a mech, with creative skill concepts and a great personality. Even though she’s been nerfed a lot, a lot of people like her for that.

i legitimately play throwpicks a lot of the times because they are throw picks.
it’s not to hamper my teams success and not because i like the character more so than any other.

it’s like rooting for the underdog to win, it’s just more enjoyable when they do win and the victory is so much sweeter for it.
and it’s also a way to prove to people how wrong they can be in their assertions about certain characters being throwpicks.
kind of like being a contrarian.

Honestly, do whatever works for you and make switches if necessary. D.Va may not be the most optimal, but if that’s their best character, so be it. Hero line-up is important, but simply existing as a “good pick” doesn’t guarantee a victory. Player input is still a thing. If it proves too bothersome, there’s always the avoid button.

Dva is not only suboptimal she’s pretty much dead weight.

They need to revert her DM cooldown down to 1 second and revert her DM size. After that we can see how she does.
