i really missed my opportunity to make my anime girl voice “d.va hypocrisy” video, didn’t I?
I also loved the Mercy mind games where you knew they had a Mercy too so you were trying to save your Res to get the BEST res because it would change the tide. Or how you could actually be impressive and do things like a hero, that was nice…
If there’s a double standard, how come junkrat got nerfed to D-tier because he’s annoying?
Tbh, I go after risky rezzes even without cover as long as I can tell the enemy isn’t paying attention. It’s possible to pull off a sneaky rez on occasion when the enemy is too distracted to notice you doing it, although I’ve certainly been punished for risking it a few times. I do play primarily in QP or Arcade though, so I imagine it’s a lot harder to risk it in Comp.
That being said, I definitely agree. That dive in to rez and back out again wasn’t necessarily hard to do mechanically, but plenty of Mercy’s I saw wouldn’t go for rezzes because they didn’t want to risk it. Taking risks and making big plays was what made Mercy fun back then. It was the high risk, high reward playstyle. Invulnerability, while nice, did ruin that, and that’s what caused all the problems imo.
My favorite Mercy mind game was the baiting of the enemy. You see a couple of people die, your spawn is close - but you also see that an enemy hero seems to be waiting for you to make a move. Is it just in your head, or will he ult as soon as you rez? Should you risk hoping your team can hold out long enough to bait that ult out for you to then rez, or should you do it now and hope that they don’t have ults to clean up with? Not to mention you had to go through all those kinds of scenarios in seconds before the spawn timer ran out. It was exhilarating.
Something something mercy is a girl so she’s oppressed? Who knows
Well minor correction
She needed a buff of SOME kind in the sense that Mercy was struggling in D tier and only had a high pickrate cus Ana was a high skill tier.
An actual E (not a mini ult but an actual E) is what she needed though not invuln
I know you ‘can’ get resses off in some games because the enemy isn’t being smart and prioritizing Mercy, but that kind of only further illustrates our point. (and also isn’t it sort of still boring, especially when compared to old res?) Mercy used to be Target Numero Uno, now she’s like… Yeah if you can kill that Mercy it’d be nice, I guess, but try and kill her whole team first. I remember back in the day people used to make it THEIR JOB to kill the Mercy. Like, a Tracer on the team who’s entire purpose was just to kill the Mercy all game to prevent her from being able to gain ult and get those big resses. It was awesome, because it made you a better Mercy trying to survive and it actually created tension. Now, people only kill Mercy when it’s presented to them like a turkey dinner. So many games I have double snipers and I’m watching the enemy Mercy flit around getting to do her job with little to no harassment at all.
I just really don’t like the reworks they’ve done, I miss the characters I used to enjoy. I miss feeling like an awesome angel healer, swooping in and saving the day. I miss being Symmetra and knowing the maps better than everyone else and catching them by surprise by being a 1v1 duel machine because everyone just sh*ts their pants when they see you coming rather than trying to kill you.
I just hope they never try and rework Junkrat, he’s the only character I really enjoy they haven’t f*cked yet.
Yeah, these days the only things I really have to consider are ‘Will I die because they can see me? Is it on cooldown?’ and that’s about it. I get the opportunity for a small handfull of resses in the game, so it’s pretty much always on cooldown, because most of the time people die and I can’t get to them anyway, so it’s just a big ol’ shrug of ‘Sorry, can’t help ya!’ which just… Feels great, as a healer e_e
“Mass Resurrect was pretty disheartening”
Every wiping ultimate in the game is pretty disheartening
Why are we nitpicking?
Heres the thing - maybe you weren’t supposed to be entitled to reverse an entire team wipe. Maybe you were supposed to use rez earlier in the fight, when you still had tanks and cover. Yeah, you wouldn’t get a big rez, but maybe that should have been rare and tough to do, like teamwiping from a single DPS ult is.
People are entitled to do anything to win. DPS are nothing special.
Hiding was a garbage strategy. You should consider yourself lucky to have gone up against a Mercy who hide.
Ignorance is bliss. Big resses were rare. Most Mercy’s tempo rezzed and we all know that tempo resses are usually 1-3 man resses.
Ignorance is bliss x2
And maybe thats exactly what happened???
People grossly exaggerate the frequency of 5-man Resses. Remember, Mercy was a troll-pick on high ranks, the Meta was Lucio-Zen, and when Ana came out, it was Lucio-Ana. 5-Mans were far more frequent in low tiers because people couldn’t kill the Mercy with their garbage aim. Mass Ress was as OP as Phara, as in it punished poor gameplay.
Additionally, when we ask for Mass-Ress we are all fully aware it needed tweaks to be more counterable, but it is still a better option to the game than a 30s CD.

How much old Mercy did you play? Were you getting 5-6 man resses every game?

Why is it that a Junkrat tire that charges like every 30-50 seconds has the capability of doing a team wipe and that’s OK, but a res of those same people he just could kill isn’t? How is that unfair? Because they’re kind of doing the same thing. Junkrat kills five people, Mercy ressses five people. They both have the opportunity to kill and res the same amount of people, but somehow it’s unfair that Mercy can do something that impacts five players but it’s OK for Junkrat to do something that impacts five players??
The huge resses were pretty rare, I’d say I got one every ten, fifteen games, and that’s only if I managed to survive to pull it off, which was sort of an up in the air, game-by-game situation. More often than not I was ressing 1-2 people, maybe 3 if I was lucky.
Your right on the money.
her original form she was a glass connon so to say. Huge impact for huge risk. Invulnerability took that risk away entirely. And has led us down this path we have been on over a year.
Well, for one thing, killing more than two-three people with a tire takes an insane space miracle and almost never happens. But also, tires allow loads of counterplay. That’s the difference.
I like how your answer is literally just “Tires can rarely kill a whole team, you usually only kill 2-3 people!”
And the sentiment among Mercy players is “Mass res was really rare, you usually only managed to res 2-3 people!”
And yet you still can’t see our point.
Heck, the GM said that one of her video is very toxic. To the point that the video and the post with her video is shut down.
And at this point, if these people are so desperate for a Mercy revert, I might as well ask Blizzard to make a mod of 6v6 Mercy 1.0 custom game and lock them in there. This kind of Mercy post is getting old, stale, repetitive and spammy.
That was the less important part of my post. The more important part was that tires have lots of counterplay, and an invuln Mercy rez has almost none.
You want to talk counterplay? It’s called killing Mercy. You want to kill the tire? Shoot the tire. It’s the exact same thing. Mercy wasn’t unabalanced until they did that dumb invulnerable baloney, which no Mercy players were asking for anyway. Her original Res was fine other than having some buggy LOS issues. No one asked for invulnerable Mercy.
