Talking about Mercy has devolved into plain insults and hateful comments. I am not a huge Mercy fan, but it’s still pretty messed up to resort to homophobia to express a dislike towards a certain hero. What ends up happening is just a mess of flagging and pointing fingers. So, let’s talk about Mercy - not the players, not stereotypes - only the balance of the hero. This is what I personally think as a masters player.
Mobility
borderline broken, you could easily make the case that it’s the best in the game
the requirements to pull it off are not comparable to the requirements to shut it down
However, I don’t think it’s will be primary issue once Sojourn gets nerfed. Currently, it’s problematic as it’s practically impossible to shut down a pocketed Sojourn due to how Mercy can keep up with Sojourn while remaining extremely difficult to pin down. Once Sojourn gets nerfed, we can open the debate about movement.
Damage Boost

the infinite duration with no resource management makes pocketing a massive problem.
Even in OW1, it was still one of the most problematic abilities in the game. Any time a DPS goes past a certain threshold of power, Mercy’s Damage Boost makes that hero a god. DPS is, like it or not, the least impactful role in the game and it always has been (above plat). It is silly to practically gate-keep an already weak role below a certain power level to prevent a Sojourn from happening. I think changes should be made to discourage a “pocket” play style, such as adding some form of resource management or a passive decay when you stay on a single person for long enough.
Resurrect
Incredibly problematic when combined with Valk
The single most frustrating ability in the game (this one is just an opinion)
Spending 15 minutes killing an Orisa just for Mercy to swoop in like a moth on a special white substance and bring her back from the dead is just horrible. How much health you come back with should differ between roles. Making tanks come back at 75 or 50 percent health would be much more fair to play against.

I agree with everything you said though. Res time is part of the issue. It is SO FAST and doesn’t require LOS. I don’t think the intention was for it to work, mid fight, just flying into the middle of the fight and pull it off like nothing was happening.
They won’t accept the fact that Mercy is overturned. Everyone but Mercy mains knows it, her mobility is broken, damage boost is broken and holds other characters “hostage” and rez has no place in this game anymore.
But don’t you dare speak about it, they’ll all flock to your thread and flag every post in it and then proceed to cry about “the hate” Mercy players are receiving.
Mercy is a big problem for the game currently and she needs nerfs.
My 2 cents, the rez is debatable whether it should be removed/nerfed to the ground or not, but the mobility is a problem
and her DamageBoost (short DB) is also a big problem, not only gives it the “uwu carry me daddy while I hold right click like a brave girl” vibe, it also ruins balancing DPS characters perse. I’d remove it and give her a skillshot (yes you read right), called “Injection Shot” where she fires a big syringe (Heals over time when hitting an ally / Damage over time when hitting an enemy).
Every character definitely ranges between actual effort & brain power required to perform usefully, even the 1 star difficulty heroes.(Are there even still 1-3 difficulty ratings?)
My arguments for Rez and Damage Boost apply even without Sojourn. Whether it’s Sojourn being pocketed or some random histcan, her kit remains extremely unhealthy.
Either don’t flag inappropriate posts, or deal with appropriate ones.
Try doing the same with a hero like Moira. You can’t. Moira has obvious drawbacks, Mercy does not.
