I’m all for the F word and all the other fun curses. I’m not about racism. The N word isn’t even on the same page as curse words, it has no function in our society for anything other than hatred.

Until they do censor it you don’t have any other options, do you?
If I was concerned about reading it I would mute/block/add filter.
If I was concerned about people continuing to say it I would probably start sending letters in to Blizzard/Jeff/necessary channels.
You shouldn’t -have- to, but until that time comes that it is censored that’s your option, and thus that’s the suggestion I would give as well.
Otherwise, you should take to the streets and join protests to abolish racism and the use of racist-born words.
ADD: I want to say, it’s very easy to say “well we shouldn’t have to” but the fact is, currently, that IS what you have to do.
That’s all I mean. It’s a personal gripe to see posts like this… of course we shouldn’t have to… but that’s our option right now. Send in letters.

Believe it or not the reason that Blizzard is making fun of you instead of doing something against people who say “easy” etc is because they are grown men with good reallife so they don’t care one bit about what people say in a videogame.
You are probably insecure or shy IRL or else you would not give a damn about trashtalk in a damn videogame

There is a difference between “s***” being censored and the n-word. One is poop, the other is literally the racial slur. Like Rykeld said, most people don’t care about normal curses. Slurs are completaly different.

I think the issue is that gaming companies and the cultures surrounding them are still up in the air about where they stand.
Unlike in other lines of businesses, gaming devs don’t see themselves as “leaders” in our community. Everything is still very “wild west” here and players want their freedom to do whatever while also being part of this system.
Like other businesses, game companies need to get their industry in order and actually try to keep some sense of a standard, across the board. For any of that to happen though, they need to be okay with losing some money (players leaving) for an all around better service and better type of customer.
Shame that sports and game shows where people are fighting over enough money to save their families could instill enough discipline into their playerbase to have them all clapping and smiling in the end over a bunch of us with nothing to lose.
Leave or censor the word, ban them right on the spot. I want the system to boot players out the match for an extended time as soon as they hit enter and after a reasonably small number of repeat offenses (humans, right?), ban them for good or for a long stretch of time. (If it is a weird spelling of it, then that is where player reports should come in - someone should be reading those.)
People act toxic because they know they can get away with it. Overwatch is nothing more than a ticket to a social space and if people can’t act properly, take it away.
The gaming industry has accomplished a ton of feats in the past few decades and surpassed both the film and music industry in revenue and yet, we still feel like the weird cousin no one wants to leave their kids around.
Our community is just a money pit for companies to take advantage of over and over and it all boils down to us having no standard for quality and a distrust of other gamers because unlike in film, we are competing against each other.
We’ll see if Blizzard is willing to do the right thing, instead of the lip service being done right now.
If Blizzard started doing temporary suspensions for people using racial slurs, it would be the right track but cost them a lot of money.
Whether Blizzard is up for it, time will tell.
In our current global atmosphere, I think they better do something more than a tweet.
I love Blizzard’s games, maybe not all the changes done to them, but I think they make great games.
However, I would quit playing all their games if it helps push Blizzard to abolish racism.

Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t their a lot of problems with racism and homophobia in their business?
I’d like to see some kind of custom censor system. Where you can create a word bank of words you don’t want to see for yourself. Don’t even bother with replacing the words, just delete them from your side of the game.
You can also type out “good game easy” and it wont be censored.
The ggez is just a troll thing by blizzard . Then I will report for spam every day. There is a mature filter and report function. Until you go with all racial slurs get censored then I won’t back your knee jerk suggestion of only 1 word.
I think developers gave up on caring about the community and there game… All they do now is release boring skins and boring overpowered heroes. Censoring hate speech and stopping hackers from cheating is last in there priority list.

Imagine being triggered by words in an online video game chat enough to put them in some kind of custom filter. How did people become so god damn fragile.
All the people here saying that since we turn the filter off we shouldn’t complain about seeing this word is really blowing my mind. The N-word isn’t just any old boring curse word, it’s a extremely mean and ugly racial slur. I don’t care about the A, B, or C word but the N word should be censored whether we have the filter on or off.
