I have been onto 2 forum posts about widow one shot and the reason they want it to be removed is because once they get shot at by widow they just get eliminated and have no response to it “or counterplay”
So have everyone in overwatch seemingly forgot how to play an fps game? What happened to taking cover and standing out of Los of a sniper so they don’t get shot?
Note: also calling out a person named greyfalcon for imitating a game designer and spreading misinformation in multiple forums, DO NOT REPLY TO HIM just ignore him
And for real, the idea that you’d be studying “Game Design”, but have no idea how that relates to “Game Theory”, it’s sad.
I’m referencing the psychology of how human beings make Choices, as the basis for all this.
“After you make your Choice, your Opponent should have the capability, to respond with their Choice, which includes the awareness that a Choice exists, and enough time to understand and react with their Choice”.
Oddly, it’s a difference between a fistfight between drunk guys.
And the steps to avoid having a “sucker punch” versus a “duel”

So yeah. Sucker punches aren’t Fun.
And getting sucker punched by a thrown rock, is even worse.
If you decide the choice to still peek a widow that you clearly know is there and is a good shot, you deserved to die. Honestly skill issue.
This is really just it at the end of the day.
"I know there is a pro widow so I MAKE A CONSCIOUS CHOICE to still peek her in her LOS. Oh no I died, sniper being able to instant kill me with a HS is OP, Remove her please " that’s how you and others who complains about having no counterplay against her sounds like
For Widow and Hanzo to either fit this, or have something that compensates for the emotional frustration caused by a violation of formal counterplay.
“After you make your Choice, your Opponent should have the capability, to respond with their Choice, which includes the awareness that a Choice exists, and enough time to understand and react with their Choice”.
Cool, but what about the characters I want to play that aren’t listed? Boohoo I am now forced to swap in qp bc this joke of a character that has the easiest time hitting shots bc of his large the hit boxes are in this game
I feel like this thread is under the assumption that Widow stands around like a stone but they usually try find a better angle when their opponents are behind cover and them BAM, no counter play as you didn’t see them reposition.
Do I really have to break this down again? It’s like you guys have no info on where the widow is at all times, even whether she in at the backline of the enemies and stuff. Like bruh where is your game sense, there is literally ways to predict where widow would be by looking at their team position and if not? Well one of you died now you have info
More like the assumption that because 2 out of 43 heroes have Tactical Shooter killspeeds, therefore Overwatch should be balanced like tactical shooter, overall, but alao only 2 heroes, but overall, but only 2.
That a game where 41 of 43 heroes plays like an Arena Shooter.
Therefore, Overwatch is Tactical Shooter.
I mean part of the problem is even if you know where widow is all the time which you probably don’t but even if you did it’s not like you can just avoid her sightlines permanently. At some point you do just kinda have to take the chance and hope she misses. And against very good widows, they don’t.
Too many games where a DPS just kills every push. Now don’t get me wrong if a widow is that good they’ll win because they deserve to, but it does feel like there’s not really much you can do about it. The widow hits shots so that’s kinda gg you just don’t get to play
In those games we’ve only seen progress when our tank gives up and swaps and a DPS also gives up and mirrors widow. So now nobody gets to have fun.
