Blizzard gave sombra better visual hack effects. People still refuse to follow why ???I love to play sombra but its really hard to carry games. I guess people like just to press q with reaper and wipe them all…
The visuals are still pretty damn tbh so hardly a surprise nothing would’ve changed there.
If voice doesn’t work/isn’t an option, you’d probably have better results from following teammates instead of initiating yourself. It may not always be quite as ideal, but you can get pretty consistent value by simply hacking whoever they’re already going after and watching their ult charge and movements so you’re ready for that Reaper q-press. Playing more defensively can work well too, aka, watch for flankers and hack them when they try to go for your healers, use EMP to cancel their ults, etc.
You need voice + coordination, that isn’t exactly found in low elo games.
The visuals still arent a perfect solution and can be missed alot of the time, especially on single hacks during a team fight. EMP is a bit different. But it also could be that you are hacking targets that your team is not in a position to kill. I am a strong believer that Sombra is a character that you MUST use a mic to play as, so you can actually communicate to your team what hacks are going down, at which point they have no excuse for not focussing. But if you are not playing with a mic, you probably shouldnt initiate with Sombra (even though this is how she should be played) and instead you should hack targets that your team is already focused on. Otherwise you are just going to be wasting your hacks
Use Sombra with a more close range team, there will be more natural synergy, like hacking a pharah so she falls into your Hog’s range, hacking enemies so they can’t escape, hacking enemies so their defenses are lowered as your team pushes in.
For the same reason for which it is called low elo.
This is also why it is so hard to get out of it.
I’mma be honest, half the time its because the Sombra goes in and EMP’s when the team isn’t ready to follow up.
Can’t count the number of times an EMP goes off as we’re trying to get into position, or even better, after we’re all already dead.
I know pretty much when to use Emp always checking my team mates ultimate and distance. The problem is they just are so scared to attack and playing passive. I hate when dva has the bomb and i am emp removing all shields and she just dont ulti and after 10-20 sec just using her ulti random…
Are people communicating and are you coordinating who you are hacking and when?
Yeah. If your not calling our ur INTENDED target “I’ma hack Blank in a sec” then it isn’t anyone’s fault.
I find Mei and Sombra have very similar call out styles. I will call out “Blank Frozen!” as I am freezing them. This gives people time to react and aquire the target.
Chances are that you may hack a target but maybe only 1-2 people will see that they are hacked or others may have already invested their time in another target.
Sombra suffers in ladder because a lot of players in game don’t use chat and thus can’t make out the call outs she 100% needs to be able to make.
My last two comp matches
There’s no incentive to have teammates on comms. In fact, the game doesn’t even put everyone on the same channel by default!
You have players that are not on comms because they muted it after ONE person got annoying MONTHS ago and just never bothered turning it back on, and groups are automatically removed from the main channel!
Have mute settings not be saved after a game so they’re automatically back on comms at the start of every match and have to mute a specific user each time.
Also have it so groups are put on the main channel by default at the start of the game.
Communications and teamwork doesn’t exist in low elo
Without communication, it is sometimes pretty difficult to tell if someone is hacked or not. EMP is very obvious though.
You are playing a teamwork oriented character in a enviroment where teamwork lacks by a large margin… You shouldn’t be surprised you are not getting good results.
A: we were too occupied to notice the hack
B: no one was available to take advantage (dead or engaged elsewhere)
C: we honestly have no idea what you’re doing. (why the hell did you hack that guy over there when we’re over here fighting these guys)
D: the enemy knew they were vulnerable and acted accordingly
E: just because you, a character who can both teleport and turn invisible, managed to get close enough doesn’t mean the rest of your team can
that basically sums up all the reasons I, a known low-rank, have encountered for the team not following through on Sombra.
when i play sombra and I say I have ult who wants potg and they just follow it like crazy xDDDD
Because the game doesn’t evolve around sombra, and people aren’t sitting around waiting for the hack circles to go around a target. If you want people to follow you hacks, you need to be vocal about them, and this is the key point, you need to say who you are going to hack long before you do it.
you think low rank people know how to play the game? HA don’t make me laugh
It’s even worse when you and the dva have that “My ultimate is ready” handshake. She looked ready and in possition so you EMP and all the suddenly she’s off fighting a Moira in a cornr somewhere.
it would be nice if there was an auto voice line saying who was hacked.
