I’m maintaining a 55-60% winrate on sombra across two accounts both in mid gold-low plat (only two accoutns I own that arent this one)
my secret? never say anything in voice comms except -hero name- hacked and “emp in 3, 2, 1”
also learning to just shoot them 4head is useful
honestly, just binge watch Fitzy vods for awhile. really any vod he posted between the start of the 20 second translocate and emp healtpack charge nerf and now will be helpful since she really doesnt play to differently with permanent trans and invis.
also unless youre actually talking to an experienced player one on one, never listen to coaching videos. just watch vods of gm+ players doing a hero you want to do and try to replicate what they do at a basic level. obviously you wont get it right away, some heroes have more tek than others and your aim will be awful compared to them, but the movement and positioning is relatively easy to replicate

You probably shouldn’t be playing Sombra at a low ELO anyhow tbh. It’s not going to fill your team with confidence.
You need to tell D.Va to bomb first, so the enemy tries to hide behind barriers and then you EMP. If you EMP first they will hide from bomb behind walls.
because they underestimate hack
Mostly the same issue of all other playmaking skills and actions: people won’t trust your calls.
Team mates will go in when they think they can get the kill and/or the enemy is basically dead.
You gotta tell people who you’re hacking, or they’ll never know how to shoot.
Don’t EMP just because it looks juicy. Chances are good that your team either:
- Is still walking back from spawn so you’ve wasted your EMP. This is A HUGE problem especially in Silver where there’s basically 0 coordination.
- Does not have ultimates to use after you EMP, so you’ve wasted EMP.
- Has not used ultimates yet, so it’s not time to EMP yet.
- Always solo EMP Doomfist if he has personal shields. It’s just a really good idea. You’ll thank me later.
Always check your team’s ultimates and discuss which ones you plan to combo with EMP. You can’t just blindly emp 5 people and then expect your team to back you up at any rank.
They’re not refusing, at that rank they just don’t know that following up is something you’re supposed to do.

well ppl dont follow emp and hacks in low elo, becouse it’s low elo. why do you think they are in low elo? becouse they just dont understand the game or/and are not good at it. they don’t have the game sence to do it.
Because they’re low elo for a reason. You can’t expect them to be smart
The visuals are blatantly obvious. Unless you are completely new to video games or flat out drunk, idk how you can’t tell the difference between a hacked and unhacked target.
@OP - Below plat, you don’t even need your team to follow up on most plays, tbh. Just hack and solo people. Call it out in voice anyways, as some people might follow up. Tell your team when you are looking to EMP and let them know what ults they should use with it. (Like, I’m going to EMP, only use shatter to follow up.")
Because low ELO Sombras are diving in when everyone else is on the other side of the map. Popping their ult when everyone’s reloading. Disabling people that are no threat except to the useless Sombra off dying alone when they try to carry.
Those are the big reasons.

No, because if he was, that DVa would be using her ult.
Coordinating is not EMPing and then telling everybody to go in afterwards. Communication needs to happen before so people are ready for it, on the same page, and the Sombra player knows follow up is going to happen.
I can’t count the number of times Sombra does an EMP with 0 communication leading up to the EMP and then expects everyone to have already been ready for it. Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren’t.

You are trying to use a high team coordination hero in a rank that is quite well known to have poor mechanics, poor awareness and next to zero team coordination.

Mei is slightly better since she can usually finish them off by herself and Mei has an incredible survivability. Sombra however, has low self-sustain ability and didn’t have any form of burst damage. Translocator usually used to pull her out of a fight instead for mobility.
I’m in lower elo too and the answer to OP’s question is terrible coordination. That can be from the OP’s side or the team side and most of the time it was the team’s tanks fault. I play Symm and most time I ult right in the point so my team can dance around it they just choose not to do it. I mean… what??? So, lack of coordination and lack of knowledge too. Stack with your friends when you play as Sombra or every hero for a matter of fact and devise some strategy. You have a much more better chance winning that way.
The same reasons why they dont follow any other “set up ults” like zarya or reinhardt

Blading Genji is pretty much the only time I’ll regularly solo EMP.
In training grounds? Duh, always was obvious. In the middle of a team-fight with all the ridiculous other clutter? It’s really not much improved as by default its still red on red and while you can least change enemy outlines, effects are still a mess.
And tbh, from the Sombra perspective, I’d much rather be able to turn it off entirely, the swirls are sickening.
Don’t be silly, don’t listen to this, no heros ever required voice and should not.
