Because it has potential to be balanced, impactful and super fun. Mass Res does not.
Yet mass-rez was never as much of a problem as valk. But there are other people who can explain this better so I will leave that to them.
Mass Res was always a problem. Thats why it always had to be worked on and eventually had to be reworked
If we had only TWO things to Mass Res since day one, we wouldn’t be in that mess: cast time and Line of Sight.
And it wasn’t at the beginning and Mercy was consider troll pick by the pros. Literally all has changed with that stupid SR exploit.
And yet the only reason people can ever come up with is it being unfun because it has no counterplay. Do you not realize that this rework would add a huge amount of counterplay?
It’s not even an ultimate.
Sure, the wings look cool, but sticking to the skybox really isn’t that awesome.

Why is that? It fits Mercy’s lore as a pacifist.
Those things you mentioned are for counterplay to Mass Res. They still had to end up buffing it because Mercy normally ended up dead. Eventually they had to add invulnerability to is as well.
This would be a rework, technically. And it would provide that counterplay people were crying never existed. This new ult idea has distinct weaknesses, and would heavily discourage waiting to rez a big group at the risk of dying or being interrupted during the cast.
Also, her current overall kit and power distribution of everything is terrible.

Actually, mass-rez can be balanced, impactful, and fun. It was that way before the rework.
The same cannot be said about Resurrect as a basic ability.
Res should NOT BE THE FOCUS of Mercy
They have said it before and I agree. Mercy should be a strong single/dual target healer with great mobility.
Res should simply be a bonus perk to picking Mercy and it should be tied to Valk
I really like this! Mass Rez would have the counterplay sorely needed (you could even add more by making corpses hackable, thus making EMP even more efficient) and she finally gets something of a skill-shot for an E.
Without Valkyrie she will be far less survivable, and her ult won’t thread on the toes of Orisa and Ana.
Mercy herself will also have less survivability after a bigger ult given her teammates will be in reanimation while the whole team can focus her.

Exactly. That would add another layer of counter to it, and thanks to the not-so-recent changes to ultimates values, Mercy would lost the whole ultimate while CC/killed during the cast.
Back then it was more annoying to play against, but not as much when the SR exploit appeared and made some players’ experience really painful.
I’d stay with “single target”. So that’s why the Valkyrie needs to go.
Wow yet another well thought out post that will be moved to the massive dumpster fire that is the “Mercy feedback thread.” At this point they are just silencing us. Everyone says the exact same thing as this post and yet 12 months later we are still here. Still meta even with 11 nerfs under her belt. Thank you Blizzard, you are a very open and reliable dev team
I really have to disappoint you. Thats not the case.
Valkyrie, no matter how much you change about it, it will always remove weaknesses from Mercy.
Thats a fundamental issue which can’t be fixed, even removing res won’t help with that Problem.
Adding a E ability, which is not res, to Valkyrie would just again overpower her.
Valkyrie Mercy has no potential to be balanced.
The impact of it is also nothing but “Just ignore her. We can’t do much against that anyway. Just focuse and burst through her healing.”. Again, that can’t be changed as i already said.
Fun is subjective and so far, most say that Valkyrie is nothing but a boring easy mode.
If you think thats fun to use something which also looks very badly polished, cool.

I will more than likely provide my complete opinion, after having read the entire post. Tho, i’m loving this rework already.
Rez was never the focus of Mercy. It was healing and mobility, which is what the devs said the rework should have emphasized, but actually doesn’t. Stopping your healing to practically stand still for 1.75s does not emulate their vision for Mercy, which already existed before the rework.
