Why I Have Yet to Not Despise Mercy's Current State

I approve this idea :slightly_smiling_face:

Would you consider it still keeping her a single target healer? I wouldn’t want her to have any burst-y heals either.

Fine with that, Mercy always was supposed to be single target healer.

But would a HOT that you could apply and potentially forget take away from her single target status?

Zen’s orb is all of the healing he gives, so I would still think of that as single target. But Mercy would be able to heal two at once.

It won’t, it’s just another buff to apply to teammate.

If it concerns you, this can be changed into biotic nade-kind of buff, that increases any healing this teammate receives for a short time.

I’m not too sure about that, although I never really thought of that being Ana’s “thing” in terms of being exclusive to her. But that is something different too, I guess.

I like that idea but I think it would be better suited for another support hero.

Heal over time is a very big buff to flankers attacking the back line – Genji and Tracer are hardest to heal when they’re deep in enemy territory, which is why Ana-Zen in Dive with that DPS pair is so strong for a long time. In any other support configuration, one of the flankers need to play around health packs, because Mercy cannot operate safely outside GA range to a back line hero (Widow or Zen) with option to GA to Winston/DVa.

I’d prefer a Mercy buff that would impact S76 and McRee more, because I feel that these DPS heroes – Genji, Tracer, and Doomfist have too much going for them already.

What if Res worked like a third beam?

  • Cool down intact (Or a resource meter, still requires a charge regardless. Read below -v-)
  • Connects to a KO’d ally with same beam properties as heal/charge
  • Beam needs to stay connected for 5 or 6 seconds in order for the res to go through
    – Can be interrupted with CC while casting
    – Needs to be connected during an ally re-spawn otherwise it will fail.
    – Maybe little reduced movement?
    – Range falling off a little shorter than normal beams, with a max range of 8 meters

This res would also benefit from Valkyrie, boosted max range being 16 meters (heal/charge have a max range of 15 meters (with valk being 30m))

The chain beams would allow the possibility of reviving multiple heroes again. Which sounds a bit much… but this res beam would have roughly half the range of a normal beam, a distinct beam color (white), and a mass res attempt would put her in the spotlight more than usual (cue a Sombra Hack/emp, focus fire, or Hog etc) Not to mention having to dance/fly around everyone for 5-6 seconds and Chained allies could also re-spawn before the res is finished (potentially breaking the chain altogether and cancelling res if you lock onto the wrong ally). The Mercy also needs a fair judgement of whether a chain is possible and with who.

This would work better if Valkyrie (Ult) itself grants a res Charge ditching the cooldown. The charge would remain until the Ult is used again. So the player can either try to utilize a Valkyrie res, or wait out Valkyrie and single res a pick before ulting again. Or even rush into another Valkyrie forgetting to use the charge.

I dunno, I think it sounds fun. I like the idea of having to position yourself properly within 8 meters and free movement for 5-6 seconds dodging enemy fire and hooks hoping a CC isn’t around the corner hahaha.

I also like the idea of hacking a Mercy mid-mass res lol

Damage boost isn’t working great for them, but this may work:

Energizer
Increases fire rate and reloading speed by 50% for 4 s.

I’d agree with that, but it would only earn McCree more hate.

Probably not for Mercy but just throwing out ideas for support abilities in general.

What about a mechanic that works like a temporary shield/screen that comes up for a few moments like a tiny little sym barrier but rather than blocking damage, any bullets/projectiles kind of thing passes through and gets converted to healing that will heal when it hits your team. Almost like a little DM wall that takes bullets and makes it heal.
Although, I would say things like Blizzard and Grav would not be included in the projectile equation, because that would be a little OP probably.

Video of it in action, sort of. Normally it uses water splashes instead of rainbows, that is just the legendary staff animations:

Pretty sure it’s your “Posts read” count that’s too low

I honestly have no idea. I personally prefer some form of defensive ability that has no damage, to help escort McRee. It might not be as useful to S76, however.

I’m going to stop you right there because this isn’t the first time it has been suggested and I went really in depth as to why systematically, it will not work.

Mercy has no genuine method of making a resource meter work… if you want a Resource meter, make it her Ultimate again, because that was a genuine Resource meter.

No because Respawn takes 10 second and 5 to 6 seconds to do that means 5 to 6 seconds your teammates goes without healing. 1.75 second is enough to kill Mercy, this idea will mean Resurrect is a redundant skill and would not be worth casting.

Not going to quote the rest because it is literally an old idea that was suggested before and was shot down before because it was unrefined. It needs working on and you need to understand more how it Mercy and the game will function systematically.

Resource meter will not work because Mercy cannot get the value… if she can get the value then you may as well make it her ultimate… since collecting souls isn’t viable… healing isn’t viable because it means it will refresh quicker than her ultimate and damage boosting is reliant on team mates performance and damage dealing isn’t viable either.

Beaming a target to heal them back to life isn’t a viable option because Mercy has a 15 metre beam so she can literally beam someone back to life from behind a wall.

The suggested time don’t work so even more of a no…

As long as it’s not invisible beam, it’s fair challenge for other team to stop Mercy.

I think that could be way to combine Valkyrie and mass resurrect: with Valkyrie you can heal dead, and once their health is healed to full, they are resurrected. It allows to add new E ability too.

Yes but the issue is… how do you do it that is fair for Mercy and fair for the opponent… if it takes 5~6 seconds, it isn’t fair for Mercy if it takes that long and if it takes 1.75 seconds then it isn’t fair for the opponents… also it can’t take so long that it impedes on Mercy’s main duties to heal the team

Exact timing is related to health: 200 hp heroes resurrected quicker, while tanks take a while to resurrect that way, due to their health. While resurrecting heroes with less health is unfair to other team, they are also easier to take out immediately after, and resurrecting tanks is “unfair” for Mercy, but it balances out their high health.

If combined with Valkyrie, it’s no issue: beams connect both to dead and alive teammates, so as long as teammates remain close together, they can be resurrected without interrupting healing of survivors.
