Why Doomfist should be an NPC

I want to preface this with me not hating Doom. I know some players like him. I don’t care for him personally, but I don’t hate him.

The premise is simple—Any match with a Doomfist is not fun.

He is the one tank that dominates the game (positively or negatively). If the Doom player is good, he dominates the enemy. If he is bad, he feeds the enemy. This makes for a miserable playing experience.

You can’t ignore him, so you’re forced to address him or he will destroy the backline. Which also makes for an incredibly miserable experience.

The only player that has fun in a match with Doom is the person playing Doom. It’s not fun to support him, and it’s not fun to DPS alongside him.

There is nothing fun about playing with him or against him. He should be lore only, and his lore is quite good.

A bottle of Snapple says that it is “Made from the best stuff on Earth”. This is fine and dandy, except it introduces a conundrum. You see, if a bottle of Snapple contains the best stuff on Earth, that means other bottles of Snapple also contain the best stuff on Earth. However, there can only be one “best” in a category. The logical conclusion is that only one bottle of Snapple actually contains the best stuff on Earth, while the rest are merely pretending. But within the multiverse theory, there are infinite versions of Earth. This opens up the possibility of gathering the truthful bottle of Snapple from multiple different instances of Earth into one area, thus allowing each Snapple bottle in said area to be technically correct.

You can say pretty much the same thing for a slew of tanks. No-one is particularly happy to see their tank go Hog or Mauga.

I go Brig and pocket the hell out of a Doom. I don’t mind them, but I also don’t mind one-tricks generally. I think everyone should one-trick for a good while. Helps to be more sympathetic towards them.

I just pick whoever with a Doom. If it’s a good Doom then they’ll extract themselves just fine without my help and then work with me to get healed up. If it’s a bad Doom then they’ll die, get angry and type “HEALERS HEAL FFS” pretty much regardless of anything I do.

lol yea I think “good” one-tricks are those who don’t complain about team comps or teammates. If you’re gonna one-trick, either you know how to work around a team comp or you don’t

How would I have fun on my Doom one-trick account MistaFista if he was lore only D:

I don’t love a Doomfist in my game, but I like to play Moira from time to time. Not sure I can get on the bus that says one character is unfun and shouldn’t be allowed without fearing that the next stop is removing the character I find to be fun.

Also, if I had to make a personal top 5 list of unfun characters, Doom would be there, but he wouldn’t be first place (he’d probably be at the very end of the list).

I miss doom being a 200 HP DPS. I don’t mind at all that a very skilled doom can 1 shot people and escape. Good for him. But if I land a sleep dart on you I expect you to die like the 200 HP DPS you were meant to be… not instantly get back up with your tank level HP + armor + self healing ultimate and armor BS he is now.

Why on earth they made him a Tank… if they HAD to take a DPS and make them into a tank WHY WASN’T IT MEI… she’d actually be such a cool tank rework.

I pretty sure every each person on earth thinks that they live in version of multiverse where their bottle is “true best”

Agreed. Doom is realistically the only hero that demands either complete focus or multiple hard counters just to keep a match even. He has far too much survivability for the amount of realistically un-peelable killing power her has.

You aren’t going to find much support for this, because most average players have never played with a Doom who is good enough to take over an entire match, but those are the normal Doom players I play with.

Snapple Prime, basically.

I don’t know, but the devs don’t care if you have fun. I can no longer play Ow 1. Things change.

Also, this makes me miss phone number verification.

I’m eagerly awaiting more content relating to the Snappleverse. This thread is unworthy of such an engaging side topic.

I feel like there’s no mediocrity with Doom players. Either they take over the game - or they’re just plain awful and feed while crying

Zen is usually my choice. With or against.
With:
If they’re good, harmony orb (although kind of a joke) will help sustain him that much more without sightlines. If they’re bad, there’s no helping them anyway
Against:
Discord should melt him if my team follows the purple ball

I hope you find the thread you’re looking for.

Pfft screw that requirement.
Even more people would’ve gone over to Rivals because of that lol, them queue times really would be going ham

…bro what?

I want you to go back and read what you wrote. You literally described what a perfect character balance should be like.

False. I find it incredibly fun annihilating Doom. It’s so funny because I know the timings of his kit so I can always predict when they’re going to do something, which gives me the upper hand in each fight.

Simply dodge punch, don’t shoot gauntlet, and obliterate him the second he can no longer block. That or he’ll do the smart thing and leave, which allows your team to push up. Or just straight up hard counter him with Cass and Sombra.

So a perfect character balance in your mind is a hero that you have to hard carry or simply take an L if they are bad and refuse to swap, or a hero that is so dominant that there is nothing you can do against them?

That is Doom, and that is not balanced.

His kit isn’t hard to figure out, but his cooldowns are way too low. He can jump in, punch, block and jump out.

This statement is great on paper, but the one thing missing is Doom’s four teammates. While everyone is shooting (or not shooting the Doom), the enemy DPS and Support are hitting you. (Let’s face it. Every support is a mini DPS at this point, barring few exceptions).

Doom escaping, which he almost always will if the entire team doesn’t focus him, makes it worse.

It’s just a bad hero design.
