And blessed be Johnny!
Uhuuuu!
Thanks, Mr. C!
Meh… I kinda wish I had an option to just make all voice lines occur in the language that I have set. Some of the heroes probably have some awesome voice lines but I can’t understand them so it’s just kinda meh.
Wi not trei a holiday in Sweeden this yer?
time for the overwatch news channals to make there 10 min vids!
Ive had this exact discussion on other sites. trust me, youre opening a can of worms best left sealed and locked away.
Paul Nakauchi is fully fluent in Japanese, and his accent is genuine.
Hanzo also says his ultimate in Japanese. Why he doesn’t say more lines in Japanese is a valid question, but the character himself still speaks it.
Let’s have some Lucio-Oh’s!
Its not swiss german (I am swiss too). She has a swiss accent, although Lucie Pohl the VA of Mercy (in both, the englisch and the german version of the game) isn’t from Switzerland. She’s from Hamburg, Germany.
Check out this funny video about how swiss german sounds compared to english / german:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g7-XDoYrXs
Fun-Fact: “Mercy” already means “Thank you” in french and is used also in switzerland to thank somebody (cause switzerland is so close to France we use a lot of french words in our swissgerman).
If I remember correctly though, “Hoi zäme!” is specifically Swiss German. My father is German though, and its pretty hard for us to understand Swiss people speaking entirely in their dialect haha.
Even thou he doesn’t speak Swedish. I think the VA made a great job. And as a swede, I think all them Swedish proverbs translated to English makes it even more fun
If it’s funny it works, that the point i’m trying to make
This is awesome! As a Brazilian who loves me some Lúcio, this makes me incredibly happy. Thank you Mr. Chu.
This again? No, stop. I’m Brazilian too, and more, I’m from Rio de Janeiro, Lúcio’s city.
We have at least two very well-known ice rinks here. Who knows how many we will have 60 years in the future? And that’s if the tech for his all-purpose skates do not become common-place in the meanwhile, so that anyone can play on any surface.
WE EVEN HAVE AN ICE HOCKEY NATIONAL TEAM. They suck, but they exist.
Leave Lúcio’s backstory alone, there is nothing wrong with it. It showcases Brazil’s diversity, even. Lúcio could be a red-haired Jewish sushi-man and it would still make sense in Brazil.
Rein and Torb should say their ultimate lines in their native laguage if they are on the opposing team. I mean most, if not all, other heroes have 2 lines for their ultimates…
Ana speaks Egyptian Arabic. It’s not the same as say Moroccan Arabic.
I mean, a few words can’t be too hard to learn as an American. He’s a voice actor after all, taking a few lessons and learning to pronounce letters like Å, Ä, Ö and rolling R should be possible.
Actually, it will be Jonny who does the portugese voice lines for Lucio and not his brazillian voice actor
I think Demi is referring to the fact that, considering how there are quite a few characters in the game who are comically exaggerated stereotypes of their country of origin (South Korean pro gamer, American cowboy and military guy, nerdy Asian scientist), it would have made more sense if Lucio were a soccer player.
It would be more reflective of the Brazilian culture, since hockey isn’t really the first thing you think of when mentioning that country. The guy even has an emote where he does fancy tricks with a soccer ball, and Lucioball in its entirety is a reference to soccer.
Nothing wrong with Lucio being a hockey fan, of course, but given the current state of the character’s background the hockey thing seems just tacked on for no real reason. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were retconned at some point.
It is something that makes him different from the other Brazilian characters on media. And, as you pointed out, there already is a lot of focus on football when it comes to him - skins, an emote, a freaking arcade mode.
I would be extremely disappointed if they rectonned it. Not every character is a stereotype, not every character has to be a stereotype. Lúcio doesn’t have to be any more of a stereotype.
How about Torb Swedish voicelines? I was talking about that
