Why do I need to have psplus membership to play on ps4?

Pretty much what Omnitrix said.

They are ‘free’ and usually come with some benefit with a PS Plus subscription.

In short it’s on a game by game basis.

I hate that even Nintendo does it. I hate having to pay for internet, and seprately to be able to use my internet on a console.

At least nintendo’s is only 3$ a month. If other consoles were also only 3$ I probably would be okay with it. But the either pay 10$ a month or 80$ for a whole year sucks.

Well you can do like many others do, just register new account every 14 days and you will got PS plus freely for two weeks. After it’s expired you need to delete account and register new one, voila, unlimited PS Plus. (One account with PS plus extends to others on your console, so you can still play on your main one)
But the fact that you need this to play online is a bit disgusting, I agree.

It’s ridiculous having to pay a fee just to online game with others. Personally, I stay away from console because of this reason, except the Switch, but fortunately me, my Amazon prime gives me the online for free on Nintendo.

How? Online Play is a feature that used to be free on Playstation. Like, obviously businesses have to make money. But that doesn’t mean every fee is good. Some of them are stupid.
