Why aren't supports allowed to counter snipers?

Tanks and DPS players all have multiple heroes that can give snipers a very hard time. There is not a single support hero who can reliably challenge a sniper.

The only support I would even remotely suggest could beat a Widow is a Zen who gets a lucky right click volley… But at higher ranks, even peaking a Widow one time as Zen results in a dead Zen. Widow has a huge advantage in this match up and Zen has to take a huge risk to even have a chance at killing Widow, who will then just be rezzed by Mercy and the supports can do nothing about it.

I know we probably won’t get a new support hero anytime soon, but please consider allowing the next one to be a Widow/Hanzo counter.

Because that is not the what the support role should be doing. Your job is to heal the team and make sure they stay healthy. Trying to kill snipers is taking your focus away from your primary objective.

If Brig is allowed to counter dive, then why can’t we have another support that can counter snipers?

Try ana.Won’t exactly work 100% of time.But you can atleast force them to retreat.

Ana vs Widow is also heavily in the Widow’s favor, as Ana has to tag Widow 3 times but Widow only has to tag Ana once.

let the support class counter everything. because they should have no downsides should be the hardest to kill and should have highest burst dps potential.

Then we’ll just have 6vs6 support meta.

Try avoiding headshots by crouching,and try to outplay her.Ana has the ability to take her down,but a win is not guaranteed.

Your comparison doesnt work.

“DIVE” is a team comp.

“SNIPER” is in individual class.

Zen is fine.His healing is not that great,except ult.But Moira and Brigitte I think personally are a bit overtuned.Brigitte deffinietly more than Moira tho.

Lucio can do it, if he moves irratically along the walls. But you’re asking to counter something that’s literally made moot by moving out of LOS or behind a barrier.

I’m not talking about their balance state, I’m just talking about how they aren’t pure “heal bots” I don’t think any of them are unbalanced, but that’s a thread for never.

I mean… I guess that the Support category doesn’t have any hard counters for snipers… but… in all honesty none of the supports are helpless against them.

Lucio has zero fall off projectiles.
Mercy has zero fall off projectiles.
Zen has zero fall off projectiles.
Ana has a scope.
Moira has her damage ball.
Brig can’t threaten them at all but she does have her own shield to hide behind.

Also all healers can do a decent chunk of their job from behind a wall or shield. So I really don’t think Supports need a hero who hard counters snipers.

Imgine Blizzard one day released A support hero who hard counters snipers.Then dive heroes and snipers and potentially Pharah would all be useless.So what would be left to play…
