Why aren't actual smurf accounts banned?

25-30% is still not a small number, as you already mentioned, since we are talking in millions… I just want to say that getting alt acc is not a problem. Higher ranked players will stay in low elo for few games/hours/days untill they reach their rank. Problem are people who are throwing on purpose aka deranking to stay there for too long. Im pretty sure that can be fixed by tracking some small period statistics like ups and downs in performance. If there is an anomaly in these statistics, that acc should be sent for detailed review.

Thing that pisses me more are players who pays for boosts then end up somewhere they do not belong and threw they way down to their actuall skill rank. But, same as for the smurfs, I didnt really experienced much of them, i did but not that often as people complay about and im playing in diamond (unofficially called smurfland…)

not talking about global gaming, just activision blizzard. which you might consider that blizzard is becoming far from pc only. diablo on virtually every system, overwatch, hearthstone, need i go on? wow is the only significant pc only game for blizzard and that’s because people are still willing to pay subscriptions for a game that is 15 years old.

it’s not a small number to you. but yes, it is very small, considering that this is a reversal from earnings even 5 years ago.

And this is the main problem of smurf accounts.
Having multiple accounts is not a problem when you play them like your normal accounts. Having free accounts you dont risk punishment when you behave badly, is the problem.

So having multiple accounts is not the problem
Free accounts is.
Having the bad reporting/punishing system fixed, would solve the other part of the problem. So people behaving badly will actually have to be afraid.
(something like cs:go has)

This is just plain incorrect. I run into the same smurfs all the time.

“Smurfing—and I know this isn’t what you want to hear—isn’t really that big of an issue,”

  • Jeff Kaplan, Interview with PCGamer, April 2017.

If Herr Von Kaplan doesn’t see it as a problem, and smurfs are you main sticking point with the game, then you’d best find another game, sadly.

Lol aimbotting and memory hacking and still stuck in silver?? I think you blow thing out of proportion right there…then again if anything it is pixel botting as those are quite cheap . Mean while blizz anti cheat warden are extremely good at detecting memory tampering .

The 4 biggest external memory cheat provider: Critical Hit, Sharpshooter ,Aimbuff , Opex, etc…
Results in instant ban if you open the cheat client or applying changes while overwatch is running .
…and the cheater have to swap profile when they change hero. And they cost $100+ per month.

But i don’t know is different between internal vs external .

And as far as I know there is no ‘free overwatch hax as many as claim’.

And if i have to make a educated guess . Slotted private cheat cost even more.

Can you name one so called memory hax that is not detected by warden and /or cheap base on a monthly basis ?. Without susceptible to warden base on what i described ?

Also you have t500 pic…so why would you know about situation in silver or diamond ? If you smurf as well you are no better than the group that you condemned …therefore your opinion is invalid …

I got top500 on PTR with roll que beta, its was 3400+, as far as what hacks work or not i couldnt say but when i was digging around curious for info I found that main bots for overwatch were screen capture bots which are cheaper, not quite as good as memory hacks and main defense is blizzard trying to force lock fullscreen which most have a system built in thats supposed to stop that but it does or doesnt work from user to user. Then the people on there that sold memory hacks and it was like $100 for the base one which gets hit with the ban waves once discovered and then theres the slightly pricier custom memory hacks which is like the same hack only they custom build it per user so its unlikely to get auto detected and not get hit with the wave when main bot goes down, those go for like 150-200 and im sure friends or other people with right knowledge can get/do it cheaper. Also most the copy paste websites you can easily find are old versions of those memory hacks ppl reupload that will get you insta banned. I also know that ppl that get hit with the waves dont get anything stopping them from just making a new account to keep playing and doing w/e with it, was talk that they could hardware ban but game has already been out for years and no one has mentioned ever getting a hardware ban so doubt they do that.

[WHY AREN’T ACTUAL SMURF ACCOUNTS BANNED?]

It’s very simple: $$$ talks BS walks.

There are hardware ban!!

Any account that are manual bạn through the reporting system or warden detected any menory code tampering while overwatch is running is hardware banned.

And ban wave are manual ban so it come with hwid ban. What doesn’t stop them from coming back is hwid spoofer on market that don’t tax performance cost like 80-100 per month .

I do aggree that there is quite a lot of boosted account in diamond and master. And easy to tell by people making gold grade mistake.

Pixelbot and screen capture based aimbot are undetected by warden anti cheat as warden is specialised in memory protection / detection .

Also because they do not 'attach themselves to the game for code tampering therefore they by pass warden . And screen bot give out signature similarly to other screen cap programs .

There are way to combat them however . Pixel bot work if individuals pixel show up due to low resolution …eg: force lowest in game res to not go any lower than 1080p and scale to no lower than 75%. Will render pixel bot useless.

As for the screen capture bot …the way to combat it is to introduce latency ’ delay in game feed ’ to screen cap programs …which won’t affect legit program but will effect screen capture bot as most of the time the bot will end up shooting at nothing / things were there second ago.

  1. People who smurf buy MORE THAN ONE account
  2. Buying multiple accounts puts more $ in Blizz pockets
  3. More $ for Blizz means more money for shareholders…the real reason Blizz doesn’t care about it’s player-base.

This is a capitalist society…this game and getting players to buy more than 1 account is genius. It sucks for most players though because Blizz does nothing to create a more enjoyable game in some cases…it’s only creating an environment that makes people want to buy more than 1 copy of the game…in alot of different ways I might add.

It’s infuriating that Papa Jeff said that smurfing isn’t a big enough issue to do anything about.
