Yet another ability to make tanks sad | Overwatch 2 - YouTube
^^ Why are changes like these even being considered??? These changes are sad, I dont want to revert back to the dark days of overwatch 1 where it was plagued by CC… Too many stuns in the game is what caused the original game to be so painful to play later down the line in the first place, and now we are slowly reverting back into that…

Because OW2 has too much damn mobility, a result of reducing the cc in the first place and adding even more mobile heroes. Sorry, but I won’t watch the video.

The new cassidy ability is broken, stuff like this is part of the reason why OW 1 died in the first place, there is no reason to add something as broken as that back into the game

The devs have decided to one up everyone who claimed flash bang was a no skill ability.

It is, its range especially, but I don’t think the solution is no CC at all. Mobility creep has been ruining the game just as much as the previous CC creep, only with mobility you also get motion sickness. OW died because OW2 was being made so content dried up, that’s it, not due to CC, or OW would have never took off when it did.

old flashbang was actually less annoying. they shouldve just converted that stun to a slow in ow2. Now we got a homing stun grenade

true, dont know who at blizzard thought giving cass this ability was a good idea, i hope they modify it

the issue tho is how lazy the ow2 pvp rebalance was. they just lazily blanket changed things without looking at the individual cases. Remember when they removed the root from junk trap?
they removed cc but didnt rebalance the game around it so now they are forced to re add it
Because we are slowly reverting to OW1 with a shop.

I think if S6 bombs that’s a real possibility.
The thing about CC is that it’s fine on characters who focus utility, don’t deal an overwhelming amount of damage, and/or need it for self-defense. It isn’t like Cass is hurting so bad for lethality or self-defense that his kit necessitates a hard silence like this.
Adding a stun back on Brig’s shield bash, for instance, was a good change since it requires Brig to put herself at risk and be in Rally in order to actually use it. It’s an issue that the silence on Magnetic Grenade is a cooldown ability with an unlimited range where Cass can freely shut down abilities at any time at basically 0 risk to himself. It makes many heroes almost unplayable against him, which is antithetical to the “soft counter” thing 2 has had going up to this point.

Because as always, people are complaining about not being able to hit fast moving targets. That’s pretty much it really.
And yes, this is the underlying reason why CC is added, if what I said above was not true, no one would need CC.
It may need changes, but that video shows how much people are overreacting to it this early
Flats was playing against someone doing a scripted movement that he knew they would be doing and couldn’t even hit the nade half the time
They had to do multiple takes to actually see if it would stop certain things, now imagine playing against someone not doing what you’re telling them to

Because people asked for it ?

Because originally CC was there to keep mobility in check, but many tank players complained about the abundance of targeted CC in the game. Inevitably everyone would experience some of the stunlock/freeze/sleep/concussion combinations in the game and they were rightfully frustrated for it.
The issue was that Blizzard took it to an extreme and made it their mission to remove a lot of that CC. So now heroes that have really good mobility are simply the best heroes to play, hands down. Sojourn can skate around the map for free, Lucio can flank enemy teams, not to mention the threat of Tracer/Genji comps. Then there’s the issue with tanks like Hammond who were really designed to take a lot of punishment and live to tell their story.
So this is why CC was brought back. To keep higher mobility heroes in check. At least that’s the main reason. There’s no harm in bringing back CC in a game where mobility is power.

Coming from WoW I actually don’t mind CC. They just need to be have much longer cooldowns I think. My freezing trap (which rooted players in place) had a 30 second cooldown. Just make any CC or interrupt ability on a much longer cooldown and force players to really consider when to use them.
Thats fair, i see your point, but the new cassidy change is too extreme imo, they overdid it way too much, i dont agree with how they went about changing it
Yeah I agree. It was… an unorthodox method to say the least
