People who 180 lock onto the enemy’s head through a wall. Or are locking onto invisible Sombra that they can’t possibly see. I sat down to play some QP tonight. I’ve played 4 matches so far. There has been a hacker in every single one. I’ve started calling them out. Why do so many people think there aren’t cheaters in this game?
Im fairly confident they’re everywhere. Maybe like 1 person in every 3 games. Assumption. Just it’s not very talked about. Like my coworker who quit and my boss is saying she’s on vacation but she legit quit.
I’d love to see replay codes for those 4 games. Like the game does have cheaters of course. But the probability of 4 in a row would be like 0.00000000000000001%.
Because the game is now a chore game-> do your daily/weekly quest and then quit.
It’s faster when you win too.
Honestly this “you need to be online every day and play everday to get anywhere” already killed alot of WoW. Now they also implement it to OW2.
And secondly: The game is hard neglected by Blizzard in that aspect. Almost no big ban waves anymore. As long as the money flows they don’t give a rat’s behind for quality and fun anymore.
It’s a F2P game with most the “rewards” being impossible to earn in game any more. So not only is it too easy to make new accounts for people who get banned, you “earn” less in game so people have realistically very little to lose by getting their account banned.
Unless you spent money on buying a skin or something OW is losing that "sunk cost fallacy’ thing every one loves in gaming these days.
It’s even worse in my comp games. Full of smurfs, cheaters, and throwers. I don’t even want to play anymore. It’s awful. It’s unplayable this season. I’ve been in comp since S1.
it depends upon what your MMR rating is, and where you will see hackers the most.
Many people are oblivious to hackers, but there are those that blatantly do it and others that are using subtle aim-assist devices.
Best thing you can do is slow a replay CLEAR down and watch the player in real time.
NOT A CHEATER:
Eickenwalde is one of those maps that you can pretty much pick out whom cheats and whom does not. Good players will predict if they see you enter a doorway and they know there is another doorway nearby, chances are. If you have not come out of that doorway within 3 seconds. you are most likely at the other doorway and they fire. Thats solid prediction. Not cheating.
Now if they predict your movement or appear to be 'observing" than they may be cheating. As they are seeing through the wall, that otherwise you cannot see through.
Some of the other things that do occur is someone “tracing” the wall and thats because they are using predictive character movement, ie the velocity of your predetermined movement that they observe, and they are hoping to connect their shot as you pass that predicted place. Again NOT cheating.
CHEATING:
cheating that is someone predicting a NON obvious path you will be taking, and knowing you probably would come through that location as there was no reason to observe a certain spot. This is a tell-all. When someone begins to line up the shot with your character’s model or hitbox.
Aimbots: What I am coming across is these new aimbots that they are trying to make to be “anti cheat resistant”. it fires 1-2 shots left and right of the target and then locks on. Now for most it seams like the person is still getting in misses. and that “they aren’t cheating”. BUT… When you slow DOWN the footage. it fires EXACTLY the same firing pattern each time.
cheating is more or less attributed now to “aim assist” cheats. Which make it seam like a player is an “improved skilled” player. But when it comes down to the slowed down footage and watching for:
- "recoil compensation’, - recoil macro cheating.
- “consistent equal-over-aim” instances.
and just watching the “natural” cursor placement. gives it away.
I’d hand out the cheater award to about 43% of our playerbase as of right now.
The Finals is getting a scary 63-66% of players are CHEATING in that game.
For some players, they welcome cheaters. because they find it a challenge, there are others that are simply oblivious to it. Because they could care less. and for the majority of players. They dont like it. because it gives them no room to play the game as intended and become better over time.

I dare someone to defend it and tell me it’s legit, cuz I don’t see it.
Looks like a very poor mimic of mL7’s aim and without any game sense.
Very typical and frequent circle-snap cursor action that’s not a typical linear flick.
5:57-6:01 - Snap to enemies behind walls
7:17 - Frame jitters/skips up-down cuz they’re hard locked on Reaper’s model standing/crouching/jumping/whatever
8:07 - Snaps to Junkerqueen behind window instead of just hitting her thru the window // Snaps to Sombra when she intended to heal Junkerqueen. (Looks like shot was out of sync with the triggerbot)
Not at my computer to watch it. But my point wasn’t that replay codes with cheaters don’t exist, just that I very highly doubt the OP can provide 4 back to back games they played vs a cheater.
It’s been building the more disengaged the normal players are.
Some are recruited to cheating because it’s all that’s left - trolling / if you can’t bet them joining - that kind of thing.
And a lot of regular players left. The cheaters have “their version of fun” regardless.
Blizzard really don’t care.
Been on some bad loss streaks recently (QP). I think it’s a new wave of hacks that got released. Gotta wait for the next ban wave or reports to roll in.
You’re right that it might not be multiple games in a row, but it’s every third or fourth game sometimes.
Other losses are player skill issues.
I just hate the feeling when I have to get suspicious every match instead of just enjoying the game knowing I got outplayed. I used to admin CS 1.6 servers. Speccing hackers is a hard habit to break for me.
Oh god, no one could refute the presence of cheaters in this game. They’re a problem in every FPS I’ve ever heard of.
I hope you’re reporting them and not just calling them out. I know it might seem like an uphill struggle but reports do make a difference. They may not get banned immediately (because, when it comes to cheaters, Blizz bans in waves) but it will happen.
The game is F2P now, what do you expect?
It’ll be more like the kind of losers that cheat have no friends and don’t do much over the holiday period, whereas the others do, so play less.
Same as there are pros, smurfs and cheaters moreso late in the evening. Normal folks are more likely to go to bed.
May sound odd, but it’s probably close to the truth.
There are more than you think
I report one around every 15-20 games and I always get a thank you message
Spotting cheater is difficult, cheats got much better and cheater got much better too
Mauga “glitching”/jumping and stick on 3-4 targets in a team fight, looking like he can’t decide who he wants to shoot and then track some one accidentally through the wall?
Yep, I will report him
Another game where I played Sombra: A low gold Baptiste pressure and chases me as Sombra with ease. Always know where I am and track me like a GM
Playing Sombra can be quite revealing.
I don’t have the replays anymore, but I do always get my thank you message, which, tbh, is not very encouraging
i’ve genuinely only gotten into 1 game with a hacker/cheater. they got banned mid game and it was cancelled. they were aimbotting/wallhacking
this is in about … 2000+ hours and a lot of them being comp. is it really that common? 4 in a row is basically impossible unless it’s the same person
I would not surprised if you see a lot more cheater in quick than in comp
A low estimate of people cheating in competitive games is like 3%, and there’s 9 people in a match not including yourself. So while 4 in a row might not be common, it isn’t that rare, either.
They allocated their anti-cheat system to ban/suspend everyone that types in the chat. Words are more hurtful than cheats, duh
Yeah man, the amount of cheaters is increasing pretty steadily. It sucks for everyone involved, but I know that with the more they push the boundaries, the pushback will be greater. These losers will get banned soon enough. It’s coming
