In other words, most things in Overwatch (except for the Shimada or Illari stuff) is already predicted to be attainable in the future. Aliens there’s been absolutely no clear sign of them existing yet or reaching earth if they do/did so they’re not in Overwatch either. Sentient AI. Look at chat gpt that can write realistic research essays for university students, ai websites that make art, personal assistant AI etc now. Imagine 50 years from now which is what time overwatch is set in.

Because Overwatch is built as a “enhanced heroic characters”. (the SH word is trademarked so not sure if it’s allowed in this sentence)
Most of that kind of characters teams are based on humans and their technology.
Also what Aliens should look like in such world ? They can design already such fantasy heroes with the omnic vibe.
If you look at MCU, Aliens are most of the time just humanoids bringing few interesting things that you could still explain with experiments or technology hazards.
We’ll probably reach Overwatch’s level of technology before we discover aliens. Just because the conditions for life are abundant doesn’t mean life is, we don’t know what the probability for life to actually occur is. Maybe we’re alone or one of a few spread across the whole and ever expanding universe.

tbh, idk. OW seems to revolve around issues and tension that would mostly vanish if an alien species showed up.
It’s set in like the 2070s so I wouldn’t be too surprised if humanity didn’t make it outside the Sol system.
I would like to see a hero that has alien tech weapons in it’s arsenal.
It would be a great opportunity for an interesting PvE experience. It would at least help to explain why the robots that were built by humans somehow started building their own spaceships.

I was speaking broadly but anyway teleportation isn’t totally science fiction. We’ve already acheived quantum teleportation from the earth’s surface to a satellite meaning we can transfer information at least close to the speed of light. Even sub FTL transference is teleportation.
I also remember some physicists from cambridge coming up with a theoretical ship that can pass through a blackhole. Theory sure, but I’m not going rule out teleportation entirely. At least not until we really know the limits of our abilities.
