The hero was consistently a top 4 DPS with a 50%+ winrate in gold-diamond with a smaller (but still notable) presence in elo’s above diamond. He get’s major buffs from OW2 in almost every single way. Less tanks means less peel, less peel means easier supports to kill, new dps passive, etc etc.
I’m under Necros’ tweet about the “leaked” genji nerfs and everyone is acting like the hero has been unplayable for years at this point or something? Like suddenly they’re going to go from being a top 3 DPS to bottom 3 because of… what, 3 damage and 6 ammo?
Like, yeah it sucks that your main is getting nerfed, but it’s not like he’s gonna become unplayable or anything.
Idk what it is about Samurai/Ninja heroes in games and people who main them always claiming they’re weak when they’re not. It happens in literally every PvP game with them in it.
Genji has been unplayable since the tragic death of triple jump
Genjitos have merely done as well as the husk of a glorious ninja will allow because of their elite skills forged in battles against auto-lock and beam attacks
I think it’s just flanker/assassin type charachters.
There was a time in LOL when Shaco (assassin) had a 55% winrate (in general league characters are considered to be egregiously overpowered and in hotfix territory at 54%) and his players were still complaining about how weak he was.
I don’t need to play a character to get a general estimate of how weak/strong they are. I don’t play Doomfist or Genji very much right now but it’s pretty obvious who’s strong and who’s weak.
But, y’see, he might go from being a Top 2 (hard-meta) pick to a Top 4 pick. Now, most people might call that “Off-meta” but the enlightened Genji mains know its actually “trash tier”.
For people that think OP might be exaggerating, here’s an example from this forum from when Genji was gigabuffed in 2020: Genji has been trash for over 2 years
I would rather have root canal than play Genji for an extended period of time, but if the rumour is true, the upcoming nerf is pretty major and his mains have a reason to be upset.
Ironically, the designer of Genji is on public record regretting not putting DJ on a c/d… if they did they could open up his kit elsewhere. He’s a duelist/flanker, but too many want to frontline with him too much IMNSHO. He’s no Soldier: 76.
