Who do you main, and why?

just a simple thread to both collect data and to see how the forums play the game

Who you main, and if theres a specific reason for it, why?

I dont really have a specific main, but if i had to go for one, itd be junkrat, strictly because i absolutely fell in love with his kit back eons ago.

Lucio came to me in a vision in like 2019 and told me that he is now my main. I didn’t swap from him for like 3-4 years. No regrets. Now I main Brig/Lucio in GM1 Xbox.

He’s just such a massive carry, it’s insane

Reinhardt since Season 3 Overwatch

I could give you the whole ā€œI have been called I must answerā€ spiel but honestly, a big hammer, great character, and THE CHARGE drew me to him from day one.

I like D.Va because I like to chase colorful moving objects and eat them.

No one.

Cause this game is at its best when there’s lots of varieties in lobbies, imo.

Nice post :+1:

except the last one can’t play the other 2 in comps, so I ā€˜ā€˜main’’ them only in qp.

Reinhardt, since the OW beta. He’s the only honest tank left in the game, and the only tank I enjoy. There’s nothing more enjoyable than 1v1ing an enemy Rein, the mental gymnastics are great fun, and I’ve had fun 1v1 duels on Kings Row where both teams just stand back and let us duke it out.

If I’m DPSing I main Reaper, and Lucio when support.

Junker Queen: Because I enjoy a skill based tank who has high self sustain.

Hanzo: Because drinking tears is a pass time.

Moira: Because I’d rather turn my brain off at times.

Im a Genji main because of his speed, and because back in the day he was the flashiest most skill expressive hero in the game. Way back from like 2016 to 2018 he was considered the singular most balanced hero in the game, but power creep caught up to this character and its made him so unbelievably useless in high elo. I genuinely regret maining this hero because of how much Blizzard has ruined him, both with direct changes and indirectly with new heroes and their balance changes.

If I knew his trajectory Id have just stayed a Hanzo main like I was back in 2016.

Because dive was meta for months early on. Doesn’t mean he was balanced. ā€œPower creepā€ catching up to him was his own base power finally being looked at.

Still doesn’t touch S1 OW2 Genji though

Dive wasnt meta for 2 years. I know you didnt say that, I just want to point this out so you realize that Genji was still 100% considered one of the best balanced heroes even outside of Dive. Once triple jump got removed and blade lost 2 seconds, he comfortably sat as one of the least changed yet always viable heroes.

Him losing power had nothing to do with him, it had to do with the fact that every last hero added to the game has at least 1 answer to him trying to play the game, honestly most had 2, and how burst heals have become incredibly more prevalent throughout this games history, along with immortality effects slowly becoming more and more common.

Ana and Illari.

Ana because…mandatory :sob:

Illari because fun.

Riiiiight.

He has and never will be balanced because they overbloated his kit. To balance him properly, his kit needs to have some stuff removed.

And all the mains were crying that he’s now weak and can’t kill anything, and it’s soooo unfair and unfun.

sombra right now since yea she is better for low elo players (me)

op video (i love to thank blizzard for an awesome hero)
https://youtu.be/OW149aD5_Z8?si=mXLhhOikTCjoVylc

my original main widowmaker is who have the most hours on. i try and play her but yea its difficult nowadays and with my OTHER MAIN running around a lot more

so you can say i have a love/hate relationship with sombra

doesnt matter tho since i would probably die of a heart attack if they were both in my room scantily clothed. i actually almost had a heart attack at the end of the pve story missions when they were standing together :heart_eyes_cat:

I normally wouldn’t say that I have a main, since I play a wide variety of heroes from each role, but recently I’ve been playing mostly Illari, so I guess she’s my main currently. As for why I’ve been playing her so much, I like her outburst ability a lot, it has a lot of neat tech and tricks that feel really satisfying to me, and also her gun feels really nice. Also she’s just very simple and easy to play, and I like just chilling out with her.

Bap.

He’s just a generalist like Soldier, can save, burst healing, can 1v1 most of the roster, has a nice support Ult for himself or to make combos and can get high ground to reposition whenever he wants. He also solos Pharah. Dude is a monster, I’m glad he is such a high skill ceiling hero, so few people complain about him.

For damage: Cassidy, because projectiles and other more complicated heroes are a hassle I don’t care to deal with; roll is more fun than sprint or slide, the grenade more fun than rocket and railshot, and he has more ā€œStage Presenceā€ than Widow.

Support: I’ve had Ana with a few hours lead over Mercy for years, but the OW2 changes to GA make her very fun and freeing to play.

As Tank: Junker Queen, I vibe with her abilities and I think she has some of the healthiest and rewarding feeling interactions with her matchups of any hero. I like counting cards against zarya and giving kirikos Bell Regret.

(also my friends aren't the best dps and she's good at picking up slack in the department. sorry guys but it's true)

Tank: Ram and Zarya. I don’t mind Sigma but I’m a bit rusty on him so I will generally try and brute force Ram instead. I’ve been trying a bit of Orisa since the forums have been going on about how she’s both powerful and braindead easy, but honestly? I’m not feeling it. Ram seems stronger and he also seems more fun, outside of Hog + Ana wombo comboing me.

DPS: I’ve been disloyal to Torb and have been trying really hard to up my Mei game. I, uh, I might have done permanent damage to my rank in the process by hardlocking her whenever and wherever. I’ve lost a lot of SR on this lady. Oh well. One day I’ll land an icicle headshot. One day.

Support: Illari, Kiriko and Bap. The Illari primary recharge buff has brought me back to the character, since her primary recharge being paused by secondary felt bad to me. Like, really bad. Now she’s so much more fun. Kiriko has been a blast since the kunai power shift. Bap is ol’ reliable to me at this point.
