It has been a very long time since Overwatch has received any content relating to lore.
We have not had any comics since Christmas last year. Even then, while the last comic was cute, there wasn’t much to offer in terms of answering questions or bringing in something new.
There also has not been a new animation since Reinhardt’s. I know that animation takes a long time to make and that it’s a long process (even with a large team), but we haven’t received any word on a new one being in the process of development.
Lastly, it was said that there would be more LGBTQ characters in the future. However, there’s been no word on this either and the only information the players have received were Tracer being a lesbian, and Lynx 17 being gender neutral (which to be honest, was rather awkward seeing as we got this information outside of the comic).
My point mainly is that some of Overwatch’s fanbase came to this game for lore, but it feels like the lore part of the fanbase has been forgotten while we have been starving for content. It also seems that the promise of “more LGBTQ characters” hasn’t really been fulfilled, as we have one lesbian as well as a gender-neutral omnic that seems to have been handled rather awkwardly.

The thing that worries me about this is the last sentence.

It makes me worried that something’s impeding the progress of lore. While I hate to say it, it feels like there’s been a lack of transparency with the community about what’s going on with the lore and the lack of updates.
Lore in this game moves at a insanely slow pace
Not even the newest hero brought anything new on the lore of the world
Literally nothing

We don’t need lore right now. We need a balanced game, and apparently 2 years wasn’t enough to balance 27 heroes.
Believe me when I say lore is the least important thing we should care about at the current state of the game.
They’re separate teams, stop this

Don’t tell other people what they should care about. Not everybody connects to the game the same way you do.

Some people care more about the story than the game’s gameplay aspects. The lore in Overwatch is in a less than ideal place right now. There are characters who have very little in terms of backstory (off the top of my head I can name D.Va, who recently had part of her lore retconned). Not only that, but the timeline is extremely confusing and doesn’t make sense.
I care more about the lore because that’s why I bought this game in the first place.

I can write up a short story on each hero if you want.

A lot of people don’t seem to realize you can’t ‘balance’ 27 individual characters each with their own skillset.
You can tweak and adjust one character, only to make another more prevelant as a result.
There will never be a perfectly balanced version of OW, simply because it’s not possible.
That’s why it’s called Meta. In any current build of OW a certain set-up or character is dominant, nerfing that set-up or character will simply switch the meta to something else.
The Mercy meta was acceptably left in for so long simply because it didn’t do anything to hinder the fun. You could make mistakes and they would be erased (If you had a proper mercy).

It makes me worried too. The Devs said that First Strike was cancelled so that they can continuous evolve the lore of Overwatch as much as they want, but so far results have been disappointing lately.
With Moira having no relevant lore presence other then being a Talon council member and creator of Reaper (but seriously, Sanjay could have been Moira instead and it would make no difference to the current events)
Retcon of D.Va’s Starcraft connections
And the inconsistencies with Brigitte’s and Mercy’s age which came in a form of Torb’s letter to his wife, which could have easily been reviewed and checked for any false or contradicting lore

They should fire the lore team and hire more for the balance changes then. Maybe this way we wouldn’t wait months to get a simple buff or nerf.
I agree with the OP.
At least there could be a greater output of comics…

Asks about lore - brings up character sexuality as a driving point.
Nice priorities you got there, m8.
Reading the title in combination of the OP’s name, I was expecting a topic about sexuality etc etc.
I was not disappointed. Stay classy.

I’m only asking for what the writing team said they’d deliver, m8.
I want more lore in general, but because they promised more LGBTQ characters, I’m wondering where that is too.
Yeah I don’t understand some people’s obsession with the characters sexual orientation, either. It’s commendable that Blizzard are diverse in this regard, but it’s not relevant. I mean, we don’t demand confirmation of the heroes that are straight? All this active labelling is unhealthy.

I won’t go into a rant about why I think representation matters because I don’t want to derail the thread, but the point is more that they said we would we get it but we haven’t gotten it, and I’m wondering where it is.
