i see on twitter most content creators are trying to push that this is a good thing actually, so yeah, they are damage controlling while also trying to say as little as possible.
this way people can just assume “well it may not be so bad” and “defend” blizzard.

Simple, you don’t. Because it makes zero sense and someone who expects it to work doesn’t think ahead. So assuming this is all the case, no wonder blizzard chose this idea.

I doubt it’s a “leak”.
It’s 100% intended to monitor the reaction and potentially come out with a “Haha guys, it’s a prank”

I’m still laughing. We’ve been waiting for, what, three and a half years for the next support, the last OW1 character released was a DPS, supports currently look like they’re in danger of being the next bottleneck, the new support hero is the only one that we don’t get to see in beta, and… they think it’s a good idea to paywall it.
Does it sound too absurd to be true, or does it sound absurd enough to be true? Either way, I’m going to get more coffee.

Really? The only one I’ve seen talk about it is Stylosa and he’s not exactly being positive.

I am probably going to sleep soon but I am expecting to either wake up to more disappointing news and have more questions than answers. Like we obviously need clarity on what is happening with new heroes, the top priority here.
But I also need clarity on what’s happening with these mythic skins too, if I obtain it, do I obtain every possible edit option with it or is it more like obtaining the base form and then being screwed over from the rest unless I go place Top 500 while playing Genji.

It is the early AMs here, and I have a lot of coding to do tomorrow, so I too am crashing out.
On the other hand, I get to wake up to see all of Blizzard’s talking about it, and the reactions.
It is like being able to skip ahead to the exciting conclusion to the dumpster fire.

Yep, it’s about that time. Been a long night. Hopefully, we get some actual clarity.
It is still crazy to me that I can tell you more about D4 and its horrendous monetization than I can about OW2s which is coming in less than a month but it’s also not looking good!

I dont think anyone here or anywhere thinks releasing heroes locked behind anything is a good thing. Now the impact about doing it and how it might be done is a different matter.
It shouldn’t be done at all or even considered reality, at all.
It literally breaks Jeff’s promise from 6 years ago that they believe, that we the players should always have access to new and future PVP content at all times. This isn’t even up for debate if I am being totally honest with you.

I agree, there is a lot of details we don’t know, but they didn’t have to do this, and yeah, it is obvious NOW looking back on it, they were planning to do this for a long time.
I think people finding about it this way, is going to make it very hard for Blizzard to be able to convince people it isn’t all that bad.
They have burned a lot of actual goodwill today, not just regular forumers getting angry day to day stuff.
Blizzards and communication, they will NEVER be good at it.

i hate how sporadic the dev updates have been. they better be coming back in full swing or i’m gonna hold one dev hostage per day until they realise and start filming dev updates for us
