When not playing Overwatch

What single player game do any of you recommend?

I cant seem to find one that I enjoy.

Just in general, or for a specific genre?

I would absolutely recommend games like Hollow Knight, Rain World & Outer Wilds as they’re my favorite games ever, but if you’re not a fan of metroidvanias, 2D platformers or puzzle adventure games then you might not enjoy them so much.

Just trying to find an enjoyable game … I got bored with cyberpunk 2077 … Looked at other games like 2077 … Looked at BG3, but I really hate topdown turn based games.

Minecraft, Call of Duty, Pokemon, Diablo 3, Warcraft 3, Skyrim, GTA 4, Mario Kart.

Only single-player games I play are Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and Elden Ring. All of them are pretty fun, though.

In a word… N E T F L I X

Giving my arm / wrist a few hours of break works wonders for my aim when I return to OW2.

CP2077PL is my other poison, though I’ve been adding so many mods that I’m surprised my game install still runs!

It just depends on what you like.

Single player I am addicted to ā€œDeath Must Dieā€ ā€œTekken 8 demoā€ and ā€œHadesā€

But there’s tons of games both free or super cheap to play.

I’ll be getting back into Genshin Impact as my cooldown game from playing loads of Tekken 8 when it drops late January.

You have Winter Sales on Steam, in stores, as well as console end of the year store sales.

It’s up to what kinda single player do you like and what is your budget

nowadays when im not playing overwatch i just listen to music, surf the net, browse and post on these forums. i use to play cyberpunk a lot but i played it to death. i tried baldurs gate 3 but got bored after act 1. i may give it a go again… maybe. always wanted to complete my tomb raider collection but im lazy. im halfway through rise of the tomb raider and still have to play shadow of the tomb raider

i also like to record and make videos of my overwatch endeavors. making a sombra one again right now

I could recommend quite a few more for a few different genres;

Fast-paced shooters;
ULTRAKILL, DUSK, Get To The Orange Door, Boomerang X, DOOM Eternal

Puzzle games;
Baba Is You, A Monster’s Expedition, N Step Steve, Patrick’s Parabox, Helltaker, Word Factori

Metroidvanias;
Pseudoregalia, Horace, Yoku’s Island Express, Ori and the Blind Forest, Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Rogue-likes/-lites;
Hades, Risk of Rain 2, Enter the Gungeon, Noita, The Binding of Iisac, Darkest Dungeon, Dead Cells

Rhythm games;
Metal: Hellsinger (kinda, it’s also a shooter), A Dance of Fire and Ice, Just Shapes & Beats, Crypt of the NecroDancer

Don’t… don’t ever abbreviate Cyberpunk ever again, or I’ll call Chris Hansen on you.

From 2023 I’d say…

Dead Space Remake
Better than RE4:Re in all ways. All.

Dead Island 2
Wholesome zombie-punchin’ fun.

Baldurs Gate 3
I hate top-down RPGs too! And turn-based combat! And this is probably the single best game of the year. Not kidding. Try it, it’s frickin’ excellent.

Jedi Survivor
Solid combat, presentation, story and a Star Wars Metroidvania.

Spider-Man 2
Exceptional presentation and fun factor.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
I loathe the Nintendo Bump, but TotK is a grand, beautiful and super-fun adventure that made me cry at the ending. And when I explained the story to my friends, I cried again.

Based on things I’ve played this year…

  • Risk of Rain 2

RoR2 is a fine game singleplayer; while I personally enjoy it with at least one other person, there’s a lot to do for the single player as well. Roguelike 3rd Person Shooter.

  • Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon

Hands down my favorite thing I played this year. Insanely fun, good characters, mechanics, style, music–it has everything. Roguelike Puzzle.

  • Hob

A decent exploration game that has quite an interesting world, and a story told with no dialogue. Haven’t finished it yet, but enjoyed the time I’ve put in so far. Zelda-esque exploration.

  • Mega Man/X series

You can really hop in anywhere on these. 10 is my personal favorite, but any of the classic games will do. The first 4 games in the X series are great, too. 2D platformer, run and gun.

  • Picayune Dreams

This is… such a bizarre title. Warning upfront; this game has some flashing lights, strange tones, and potentially unsettling imagery. I couldn’t fathom what I was looking at some of the time–if you go looking for that. The actual gameplay is pretty fun. Roguelike space shooter.

All of these are available through Steam, with some on other platforms too.

heres a game i recorded from replays. initially a stomp but i turned it around with a backcap and the team rallied. caused us to rally and win next round. one of the reason i love the game. the never give up mentality even when you think you dont have a chance

it also helped that im sombra… yea … perma invis with the ability to backcap the point. the enemy mauga didnt help since he caged himself trying to rescue the point heh

sombra is one of the most fun characters i ever played in a video game. moreso that rogues from world of warcraft and any other hero in single player games. to me she is freakin awesome but yea i can see why people hate her so much

There are quite some good games out there.

  • Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen ← I strongly recommend this.
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Spiderman 1, 2
  • Super Mario Bros. Wonder
    etc.

YouTube.

I’m speedrunning the Defunctland level right now.
