What was the point?

What was the point of all the big hp and hitbox changes? Hanzo is as bad as he’s ever been with log spam, and the only reason we aren’t hearing more about it is because of all the other steaming b.s. prominently featured in Season 13 OW. Abandon all hope ye who enter here.

The point was to try to salvage 5v5. Walking it back is probably them realizing that it’s putting a bandaid on the bullet wound that is one tank

Equalizing burst damage figures across ranks. They’re trying to make the game more appealing to a wider audience and they can’t do that if a bunch of heroes are designed and balanced around a level of aim most players don’t possess.

Its like horrific celebrity plastic surgery

“Well maybe ill just wear some makeup”

"Tiny bit of botox under the neck’

“And in the forhead”

“Got my teeth neon white”

“Some lip injection to compliment”

“And some implants and a bbl”

“And liposuction”

“And some hair extentions”

“And this sick half body tattoo”

“Im also on 20 medications and havent personally seen the inside of a grocery store since 1989 or driven myself since 2003”

It’s the smallest projectile in the game. It’s the same size it’s been for almost the entire games history. Which again, has always been the smallest projectile. People just pretend they are logs, which all the other projectiles are not, simple because he can 1 shot, and others do not.

the problem is that hitboxes in this game are weird
add the oneshot from hanzo and that his arrows are the most notable examples of how the projectile hitbox works on this game (changing directions, odd headshot registry, etc) and you can understan why his arrows feels like logs. Devs can make his arrows the size of a dust particle and they are going to keep feeling like logs.
Hanzo will be a problem forever thanks to how the game works, garbage character

It does not change direction. That is just in replays and will happen with every projectile. On the screen if the hanzo they actually landed the shot, it’s the server compensating for ping and registering the shot did hit, so it moves to the head. Yes it looks weird, but not for the shooter.

But it is still the smallest projectile, it will still miss shots that every other projectile will hit. Especially since nearly every other one is even bigger since s9.

The projectile may have had its size reverted, but the hitboxes are still larger, and other characters have all had their burst potential decreased, so on a relative scale his burst power is on a whole different level now.

duh that’s what i said, awful projectile hitboxes, but is more obvious with hanzo arrows for some reason
and no, i’ve seen projectiles changing direction in match, not in replay, it could be compensation from server or not but it happens and that adds it up to the log feels

Huh? It had its hitbox reverted like you said. It’s the same size it’s been for like 7 yrs of overwatch. It doesn’t make sense to say it had its size reverted but is still bigger. It’s the 0.1m it’s always been. Also we have other heroes that have their same breakpoints as pre s9, but bigger hitboxes. Like Mei. Either way, hanzo does not shoot massive projectiles, they are not logs.

It is not the hitboxes, it is the server recognizing a shot hit while they had higher ping. With 0 Ping you would not see projectiles change direction and hit someone in a replay. You are right; you can see it in match too as the server recognizes that it did hit from the shooters pov. But they still hit their arrow, they did not have it miss and then change direction to hit. That is just visual since Ping exists.

People can argue that it leads to a “log feel” but the fact remains he shoots the smallest projectiles.

To clarify, I’m saying that the projectile size may have been reverted, but the characters’ hitboxes are still larger.

They did not increase character hitboxes. They only increased projectile sizes.

Throw changes at the wall and hope some stick.

Pretty sure that was it. They didn’t stick for me, but I’m just one guy :woman_shrugging:

and the size of his projectiles doesn’t matter because of how projectiles work on this game, favoring the shooter, big hitboxes on characters, and adding the oneshot from hanzo it just make it worse

“Hanzo still exists, what were the point of the changes?”
Well, if the idea was to remove Hanzo, they didn’t do that. Luckily, I’m 99% sure that wasn’t the plan.

And we aren’t hearing about it because other things are better?

Which side of the bed did you wake up on today?

Uhhhhh? How does having bigger or smaller hitboxes on projectiles not matter? So if we increased the size of hanzo arrow by 10x, it would be the same as now? And yes, characters have always had fairly big hitboxes in this game, but it’s always been the same. Probably due to not having movement acceleration.

i mean the arrow size doesn’t matter if we keep making it small thanks to how projectiles work

and hanzo has been a problem since forever

Bring back Hanzo OW1 from the first S1-S2 It was ironic to see how a single scatter arrow could 1 shot Zarya/Orisa etc

What do you mean by how they work? You shoot it, if it hits then it hits, if it misses it misses. Yes there is favour the shooter, but people still need to hit their shots. And bigger hitboxes make it easier to hit shots.

In what way? That people don’t like him? Because he has been weak, good, and op depending on the patch. There have been times when his balance has been an issue, and times where it hasn’t.
