I tend to like relationships that are rough for fiction. Nothing remotely difficult irl, but for fiction… rough and tough. For me, I like the tumultuous relationship I imagine between Brig and Pharah. What about you? Again, not Gency or Pharmercy, or hanzo & McCree but like… what don’t you see a lot of that you think would be nice?
My Ship
Pharah and Brig both being raised in Overwatch had a good relationship to start as friends. Eventually, great and close best friends. And then, after some cute moments here or there, never officially dating, the toll on Overwatch takes a toll on their relationship. Where Pharah still wanted to join, now does so much to pseudo-live it out now in security. And where brig never wanted to join, now supports efforts to dismantle things like overwatch. They fell on different spectrums and so it hurt their possibility of a relationship and broke their friendship.
So now they are still friendly, but it’s never the same. Where both have a pain from not having someone they love, while also losing their oldest friend.
I love this ship because it’s a very Balanced relationship while still not working. Where Brig is sturdy and holds her ground in her play, pharah is more of a glass cannon and mobile. Their lore allows exploration of two sides of overwatch- the good via Pharah and the bad via Brig. And it shows how life can influence someone based on what they see- Pharah sees honor and glory, but Brig saw pain and hurt. And it influenced their lives differently. And while not hostile, these views are inherently reconcilable and impossible to overlook. It’s not some dramatic painful, “wahh you kill people and are mean!” in the pouring rain. It’s subtler. It’s quiet. It’s the temperature being just a bit too hot that you can’t be comfortable. It’s getting 6 and not 7 hours of sleep. And it adds up. Eventually the problems rise and you can’t really demand a change because you understand the other view. It’s not wrong.
Overwatch did good things. Brig can’t deny that.
But Overwatch did bad things. Pharah can’t deny that.
It stacks. It adds. And once the glass is broken… it can’t be fixed. It’s changed.
Anywho, I live for this kind of ship. And I don’t see much of it. HBU? Why do you like yours? And of course, it doesn’t have to be romance based. I personally like to think that Moira and Sombra are the best of friends (not joking; I really think they would be like, an odd pair but truly accepting of one another).
Especially looking at why . What about the lore do you think pertains to such a ship? Even if it’s a “crack” ship. For example: I don’t know if Hammond and Zen hang out, but if you think it would be a thing, what about it do you feel works?
