To be able to be played as a main healer alongside an off healer and to not be a throw pick in 90% of current situations like she in at the moment. At least that’s how she is in high masters-GM and OWL.
Multiple OWL support players have also said she’s really, really bad and not worth picking unless to be a pocket bot for a Pharah. It’s sad when some of the best pro support players in the world like ArK, NeptuNo, Dridro, etc. all say there’s no reason to pick her and that she’s really bad/needs an HPS buff, yet a small number of people on these forums try to insist that she’s great lol.
They show Mercy using Valkyrie in-game twice in the OW2 gameplay trailer, both in the PvE missions and PvP gameplay. Jeff also said at Blizzcon that her PvE talents are done. This implies that she has all of her PvE talents designed around her current kit/Valk as her ultimate. Which means she isn’t getting reworked for OW2.
“Multiple OWL support players have also said she’s really, really bad and not worth picking”
Yes because she has to compete with Ana, who has an overloaded kit with a grenade that wins entire team fights on its own, and the easiest combo ult in the game, ontop of having incredibly high base healing.
Now lets compare main supports signature abilities,
mercy res 30s cooldown,- can bring a team mate back to life but with a long high risk cast time
baptiste immortality field 25s cooldowns: keeps team mates from dying in an AOE for 5s with a 200hp destroyable drone
Moira biotic orb 10s: and only healing or damage
Ana Biotic Grenade 10s: blocks all healing on multiple targets, heals and increases healing on multiple targets, heals everyone instantly for 100 health, deals 60 damage.
One of these abilities is not like the other. You see how orb, Res, and Field all have cooldowns ontop of openings to exploit that reflect the power levels of the abilities yet for whatever reason Anti-nade is allowed to bypass this rule because Ana cant self heal which doesnt matter in 2-2-2 overwatch where you are guaranteed a 2nd healer. I also shouldn’t have to explain how absurdly strong anti heal is. Im of the opinion that mercy Baptiste and Moira are at decent power levels “moiras popular because shes easy not OP”, and Ana is the big outlier amongst the main healers being blatently better than every other option but because the hero is popular amongst pros its ignored.
Ultimate is single target resurrect with 0,65s cast time instead of old 1,75s
Ultimate also triggers 15 sec Valkyrie, even though there is nobody to be resurrected
This all makes resurrect balanced and actually to be used when needed. Mercy can choose between using it as a engage tool teamwide dmg boost and heal. Or use it to save a killed player fast, but it also makes her commit her ultimate, which comes with Valkyrie benefits. I think this is a way to keep Mercys kit simple, yet effective. New abilities are harder to balance and we don’t need more AoE heals or high burst. Mercy is such a healthy support for the game, single target healing, no cc etc, high skill which is mostly positioning and movement.
I think they should just remove rez at this point.
Replace it with an ability similiar to WoW holy priest’s Guardian Spirit. Buff on target for a few sec that does two things, increases Mercy’s healing on the target, and in case the target receives a killing blow, instead they instantly heal to half health.
This could help with two things, makes E ability more usable during midfight, and gives Mercy a temporary healboost.
The other thing that would be nice, is a kind of overcharge ability on R while the staff is active, that could boost both her healing and damage boost for a little for a short time.
I’m not too bothered with her currently but I wouldn’t mind a rework that removed res entirely. I don’t think there should be what is essentially a reward for bad play in the game.
I don’t like superjump as it is right now. I wouldn’t simply remove it as that’d just be a large nerf but instead perhaps add some increased mobility to GA to compensate.
I don’t really get chain beams they should just make one beam with 100hps or something it makes it more skillful and more engaging to use the ultimate.
(But I would have gone with “Mercy is fine” if that had not been taken.)
For the sake of the thread thought…
Press M1 and M2 together for a Mercy healing overcharge (Think Ana boosted Mercy for the animation. Pick whatever increase to healing you think is fair).
Run it too long and you’ll short your staff out for a 2+ seconds (No healing, No boosting. Nadda. Just pew pew pistol time.)
The boosted effect has a slightly variable use time 2-4 seconds, so you’d have to listen to the sound of the staff to know when to shut-er-down, instead of just counting exact seconds.
