- Your team is waiting for you to do your job, not the other way around. If you don’t do your job, MAKING SPACE, they can’t do theirs.
- You walk a line between KNOWING WHEN TO ENGAGE AND WHEN TO DISENGAGE. If you never engage you are not making space, if you never disengage you are feeding and leaving your team open to counterattacks. Strike a balance between the two.
- YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR TEAM, if you are not a team player don’t expect people requesting a second game with you. Everything you do must be for the sake of enabling the team. Otherwise you’re just wasting everyone’s time.
- DO NOT BE AFRAID TO TAKE A HIT, that’s part of making space and why you’re playing tank. No, you aren’t supposed to sit at chokes all game expecting your dps to get picks before you move. You have to trust your dps and healers to back you up but you’re supposed to take the initiative. And if you aren’t sure about that BE VOCAL ABOUT IT.
- If you’re not sure your team can or will back you up with your current tank pick, SWAP TO ONE THEY CAN BACK YOU UP WITH.
- HAVE YOUR TANK PARTNER’S BACK! I can’t stress this one enough, if the two of you don’t work together its a guaranteed loss.
Honestly, us tank mains need to stick together. We are slowly dying.
Nah, personally, I couldn’t love Tank more.
I died off when they slaughtered orisa. I hope to join y’all one day again
I’ve joined the Tank mains after Bastion’s laughable changes. I am now a Hog Sigma main
This needs to be said a lot. I remember a long time ago, a Rein told me, as Bastion, that I have to move up if he wants to move up. That honestly made me so confused and annoyed, it was crazy.
I mean yeah what’s the point of playing tank and getting melted in 2.3 nanoseconds when I can just play dps and have literally no drawbacks?
Another is to understand that dying isn’t always bad (if its for a reason).
also flexing. my rule of thumb is 3 heroes per role
That should just be common sense though.
yeah you’d think wouldn’t it
im not entirely sure why people are willing to quit an entire role over nerfs to a specific character. This goes for all roles. Like, what did you play it for? What did you like the hero for? Their power? nothing about their personality, their charm? what did they really mean for you to dust them so quickly?
this is a general question i think people can ask themselves about their mains
I know… even with both our healers on us.
Rein’s are the true MVP’s, not gonna lie
- Protect your main support at all costs, you won’t last two seconds without them.
I do literally none of these things. Still a tank main, mang.
You also forgot when you’re doing all of that and get an awesome pick and now it’s time to stop playing musical chairs in frontline and be aggressive and win the team fight, and you weirdly lose the team fight, look at the kill feed and see your mercy and the Ashe she’s pocketing dead.
Off in the flank route.
And that winnable 6v5 just turned into a 4v5, and immediately into a 3v5 because there’s not enough heals. And you keep trying for three pushes to make space the right way and your team isn’t using the space.
So you immediately switch to roadhog before the other tank can.
Ah, playing tank is such a fun and rewarding roll. Not at all punishing or infuriating
I guess this applies directly to you then.
How is it a waste of time if we get the W? What the heck are people playing for if not fun or a win?
Because whether or not you are aware of it you were carried to that win because you aren’t doing your job. And people aren’t going to want to play with you again if aren’t willing to do so.
That is a great one. I was carried. All my golds, play of the game, only end card from my team… but I was carried.
If I just went Rein and did less, I would magically not be carried. Wonderous.
