What is with the quickplay tryhards?

I really don’t get it. Quickplay/arcade has always been for just messing around, learning a new hero you’re not good at, and things like that. But consistently every time I try to play arcade or quickplay these days it’s nothing but my team flaming each other. “Why are you doing such low healing” “Braindead tank” etc.

I mostly use quickplay to learn new heroes I’m not confident enough to play in competitive with. Why am I getting flamed for it? Why don’t these people just queue for comp if they care so much? It’s so frustrating.

They don’t queue Comp because they are hardstuck in Bronze 5.

I think the MMR is out of whack. I get tilted even when we win. Some maybe cheating and still losing, but I really hate the one shots.

Blame matchmaking, people want their teammates to perform at a level equal to them. If everyone in your lobby is the same skill level it wouldn’t be a problem for you to practice and maybe not play the absolute greatest. It just becomes frustrating for the other players when they are held back / lose because of a teammate. Matchmaking is really loose right now and players with all skill ranges are getting matches together. If you were queueing against other people who are also practicing / performing at the same level as you, none of this would happen. I am gm dps, I had a genuine bronze healer on my team yesterday. We lost the game because they played very poorly compared to the rest of the gms in the lobby. It just sucks for the team to have such a weak link and lose because of it. It isn’t even the bronze players fault tho, they didn’t ask to be put into a lobby way over their skill level. Can’t be mad at them, just at the terrible matchmaker for deciding it was a good idea to put them in that lobby.

well, you’re not wrong lol, thats me in a nutshell

Where are you meeting tryhards? My QP matches are filled with new players who are incredibly garbage.

Where was it ever explicitly stated that it was for that though? It never had that description, never, not in OW1 or 2. It was just a place for quick matches where anyone could group up with anyone or do anything. So it was never just for messing around or learning new heroes, sure you could do those things there, but it was not exclusively for that. Meaning you’re gonna run into just as many people taking it seriously as you will clowns taking it non-seriously.

And until they fix ranked and add a crossplay specific ranked queue option (where PC/console groups can play), you’re gonna continue to find that more people would rather tryhard in unranked than actually queue for ranked.

And there’s nothing wrong with that. If you’re allowed to suck at a new hero, they should be allowed to be sweaty. Not really fair to allow one extreme but not the other. So if you’re trying out a new hero or just clowning because you’re bored, turn off chats and carry on.

The matchmaking in ranked is awful. I don’t get why there should be matchmaking in ranked in the first place. If the game says I’m bronze, let me play against bronze, why put me in a silver lobby where there are other try-hard silvers trying to get to gold? I think if each rank played against its rank and after 5 wins they get promoted or demoted then ranked would feel better. Sweating for five games just to get promoted by one tier just doesn’t have the rewarding feeling it should have.

“Casual problems in competitive games”

The only problem i see here is a personal one OP…

There’s no real matchmaking in QP any more. This leads to terrible games where it’s stomp or be stomped. This leads to people getting frustrated and feeling helpless. This leads to people flaming their teammates, even though they can’t do anything, either. This leads to more people getting frustrated and losing their temper. This carries on until everybody is miserable.

There is, and it works extremely well… the problem is players dont understand the matchmaking system wasnt created with the goal of making balanced matches.

It was created with the goal of ensuring players win rate averages dont get to low or high.

Basically its a system created to boost potential profitably.

Basically blizzard doesnt want the stupid people to Uninstall and take their money to other games, but knows those players would sink unless the matchmaking system relied on strong players to carry them

I’m not sure it is working extremely well because there’s only so much anger and frustration a person will take before they say to themselves, well, beggar this for a game of soldiers, and uninstall the game because they’re not having fun with these low quality matches.

OW2 doesn’t seem to be the shot in the arm that Blizzard was hoping for and I would imagine that a terrible, terrible casual experience is part of that. But what do I know.

I take QP as seriously as competitive (in other words, they are both casual experiences); however, I also expect the bare minimum. A lot of the mistakes I witness cannot be written off by just being bad at the game. That would be one thing. I do not fault anyone for that.

Some of these “people” would not have survived harsher times and the degradation of our society is perfectly displayed in these lobbies. I play video games to escape this existential dread. Why do they need to follow me into a cute game with tig ol bitty heroes such as Hog? It is not right. The ThiccBuddha deserves an escape from this samsara.

No, you do not understand QP. QP is a competitive mode, you play with teammates.
When you don’t respect them … they will leave. And your opponents will roll you.

Oh it does.

The anger and frustration are just coming from 2 types of players, both are victims of the system…

Strong players, just get fed up with near constantly being expected to carry or get weighed down by drastically weaker players. Over time, those players begin to feel like they are beinv punished for being stronger players…

Weak players, get heavily carried by the matchmaking system, over time this leads them to believe they are way better than they are, which then results in frustration and blaming because losing and lack the understanding to see why, and lash out because their ego wont allow them to take any personal accountablity for the loss…

The matchmaking system does a lot to contribute to the toxicity problem, but because its beneficial to profitability, blizzard turns a blind eye to that fact.

Blizzard does more to promote and cultivate the “toxic” environment, which is why the problem never lessens no matter how many they punish…

The irony of OP’s name trying to call out other Tryhards lol

You clearly don’t, because you made that up mate.
Don’t worry its a false assumption that many players hold (for some reason) but it is indeed false. What you are talking about is FFA or Arcade.

Unranked Quick Play, specially RQ is not for that at all.

Playing the game = \ = tryharding

And QP has never meant “fool around” either….

That’s what you don’t get. Players have been trying to win matches for over half a decade now. Nothing has changed

If anything you might’ve just gotten better at the game over time so everyone else around you gets better over time which means that you’ll start going into games where players are playing properly for the win and actually following the objective of the game. Nobody else has changed

GM players annoyed with matchmaking in comp. Goes to QP and makes matchmaking worse for everyone. Blizz thinks it’s hilarious feeding children to the lions.

I mean I got matched in QP with relative new players on my team while the other side had a GM tank and a T500 DPS on the other side. The matchmaker is at it’s worst.
