He is hispanic and largely composed of cells that aren’t even his anymore. Most of his body is made up of dead or dying cells that he consumed from his victims. Since those are dead they have a ghostly white appearance.

Could it be a glitch?
Reaper’s skin is most likely white due to a side effect of Moira’s experiments.
You can see a similar skin tone on Moira’s own hand, the one she sucks life with. Since Reaper’s ability is cellular regeneration and life stealing, it’s safe to assume his skin tone has changed (has become “more dead”) like Moira’s, only more advanced (probably due to his former genetic/cellular condition).

makes you wonder just how changed he is under the mask. is he reduced to a skull? does he even still resemble a human? alive or dead? judging by moira’s hand, he could still resemble some form of life…even if it’s a vampiric monster Im not saying a bunch of eyes or some hellsing rip off. but we know whatever it is is apparently horrifying judging by ana’s response.
Right?? I remember a while ago the OW twitter teased “You don’t want to know” what’s under Reaper’s mask, so I’d imagine it’s something pretty gnarly. A lot of people speculate he’s just MASSIVELY scarred, as if his body was unable to heal efficiently after the HQ exploded fighting with Morrison, but who knows.

I always assumed it was like Symm’s vampire skin; she’s insanely pale with it equipped. I always thought that’s what Blizz thinks the undead look like.
We can actually invite the devs to this thread to confirm. You have to be level 3 to do it I think.
I get the feeling it might not be scars. ana is a vet. she’s seen scars. Im thinking it changed him more than we know. especially if moira’s hand and his skin tone is any indication.

it might not even necessarily be necrosis. like I said before, whatever moira did to him, it changed him a lot. what if her experiments combined with him being a super-soldier made him some sort of horrific evolutionary offshoot.
He may not have been named Reyes right from the beginning though.

in the beginning “reaper” was just a class you could choose to create for your character. and from the concept art they all had pale skin.
Tbh that could be it, too.
He had side-effects from his SEP days that he brought Moira in to deal with, but then got side-effects from THOSE treatments (he did NOT expect the misting/ghosting she gave him, look at his face in her intro short), so now he’s just a Mess.

They’ve made him plenty of new skins since then and keep it up w/ the pale biceps. But from the Blackwatch and Solider:24 skins, it’s clear he’s not white.
Probably cuz hes basically dead. I imagine him having regenerating dead cells, so his skin could have become paler because of it
