What do you think of the Overwatch Reddit?

I get the feeling we’re lacking interaction with them, what do you think of them?

I haven’t really checked the Overwatch Reddit but I think Reddit in general is probably a better place for discussion than this forum…

This forum is filled with complaints about very trivial things and nobody seems to talk about actually important stuff like multiplatform support and support of new and useful technologies that will actually help Overwatch be a better game in the long term and be accessible to many more players…

One thing I’d suggest is maybe we could have a specific section of the forum just for game feedback suggestions and so on that doesn’t involve topics about hero balance…

There are so many threads regarding hero balance and it’s just people’s personal opinions about how balance should be and it doesn’t really help to improve the game in my opinion…

Then there’s also the fact that moderation here is completely inconsistent…

But I prefer the format of this forum so I stick with this…

Heck! In the long term I think we should look to moving to Discord…

Discord has a lot of really great features nowadays…

I don’t think about it at all.

Edit: Looked it up and it’s 20:10:1 of gameplay clips vs fanart vs actually talking about the game.

I’m sure the people on OW Reddit forums are cool and funny, but I don’t like the layout of Reddit forums at all; I don’t like comments moving up and down based on popularity, and I don’t like the way conversations branch off to the side and become fiddly to read.

I much prefer the way these forums are set up.

The Overwatch reddit is filled with gold players not understanding anything about the game.

Can’t say I’m a huge fan

It’s just clips of console POTGs or other ‘clip’ type moments. Not for me.

Not, er, not like here at all. Ha ha ha. There are certainly no stinkin’ golds around these parts. Ha ha ha ha ha. No sir, just really good players making really good posts. :grimacing: :sweat_drops:

I remember WoW subreddit having a thread tallking about how the official forum is so bad and the general response was “We aren’t really that different.” So say what you want, the subreddits are definitely more self-aware and hence likely to be more reasonable than this place.

I can’t remember the last time I intentionally used Reddit for anything

Pretty accurate. They really think Sym and Torb are broken and if you try to argue, you get downvoted.

Its not really a place where you can argue with logic. Its much worse on reddit than its here.

Never visited there for a long time. So i don’t care. They are a waste of time. If u disagree with them even when u are right they will mass downvote u.

It’s all just POTG reposts.

These forums should definitely take notes from Reddit

I come to the forums for sheer entertainment, ngl.
I go to r/overwatchuniversity if im looking for actual advice.
r/overwatch has better discussions than the forum, imo. But they are rare amongst the fan art, highlight clips, etc.

I think they are lacking interactions with us

You know why? Because we are in the correct place, not them. If they choose to not even acknowledge or look at the legit and appropriate place for Overwatch discussion, that’s on them.

There’s no lineage or links or anything from Blizzard that drives us to go to reddit? Why? Because frankly all traffic generated by reddit with respect to overwatch, goes into the pockets of reddit.

Blizzard won’t listen if you don’t talk dollars and sense

i like reddit but you have to fish through a lot of stuff. tons of funny videos and memes if you can find them

there is one OTHER reddit that i like as well but its overwatch’s dark side (nsfw) :japanese_goblin:

I don’t follow the main Reddit, but my main issue when looking at the “Xmain” reddits is the potential for flocking.

If a person has a differing opinion to the majority, they’re more likely to be bombarded by dislikes and drop out of the conversation. I really don’t like this, because having one majority opinion can’t differentiate between the conflicting needs of the 3 different roles.

Reddit may be better overall, idk, but the drawback of silencing unpopular opinions is too big for me to appreciate properly.

People would rather upvote a Genji potg than a narrowly-split debate.

I really don’t like it.

After the Mercy buffs and subsequent criticisms about the changes and ideas for different changes last season, it got really toxic towards Mercy players. There was also a lot of outright sexism as well in those discussions.

The issue with Reddit is that you can just make burner accounts with no email in like a second, so trolls are ripe and toxicity has no real consequences.

Aside from that, I’ve always found that it’s a neat place for people to share art, cosplay, and highlights, but for gameplay discussion it’s awful. Honestly, I’m not a big fan of gaming subreddits in general since they wind up becoming echo chambers and the bandwagon against anyone who disagrees gets pretty hecking toxic. But for things that aren’t really opinion based it’s not that bad if you ignore the creeps and trolls

r/Overwatch : Memes and clips
r/Overwatch2 : r/Overwatch with a little more complaining
r/OverwatchUniversity : Pretty decent probably best place to ask for and get advice
r/OverwatchCompetive : OWL stuff

They all have there place.

Forums : place for a lot of trolls, least moderated and full of bait posts. Kinda the best place to have drawn out discussion tho.
