The matchmaker is and always has been the biggest problem with this game.
And that all started from double barriers being usable.
When Rein Orisa Winston was the only main tanks, It was really hard to combine them because of their unique positions. But Sigma kinda overlapped between them and started that new meta.
Thus DEVs couldnt remove Sigma so nerfed all shields
They can try making tanks more interesting making them DPS with shields, but that only makes other roles useless.

The glacial pace of content release for a couple years which turned out to be the fault of OW2 secretly in development. Only to then announce OW2 and switch all focus to that and leave OW1 on life support until the plug is pulled with the release of OW2.

The balance team, sometimes they make good changes but the majority not so great. The DPS queue times fueled by the giant laundry list of Tank and Support nerfs/reworks is pretty good evidence of that. It’s pretty obvious a large portion of the Tank and Support player population quit the game a while ago. I think it’s most likely shrunk further since then. For anyone with good common sense it’s pretty obvious why those roles are bleeding players but blizzard seems oblivious as do a lot of players.
I imagine for different heroes you would have different achievements to achieve the golden guns.
Agreed. It’s watering down heroes, and nerfing unique/fun ones until its a garbage generic fps game, like all the others.

which is a problem because no other comp can beat it, this leads to people playing heros they dont like.
secondly role queue and its subsequent increasing of queue times has caused as much people to leave this game as briggite did.
i believe whole heartedly this is why sinatraa left.

The entire problem with Overwatch is having heroes with cheap skilless game mechanics that easily discredits your skill level. Genji, McCree, Roadhog all fall under that category
That’s basically how Dota operates aoe stuns that cover the screen, being invisible other than when you attack, being able to teleport more or less anywhere on the map, invulnerability to damage types… there’s all the crazy things and it more or less works.
What exactly do you mean worst? Ball, Hog, Zarya, Sigma, Rein are in great places atm. I’m totally confused when you say “easily the worst it’s ever been and REALLY needs some attention” are you saying Tanks need more love or less?
What REALLY needs some attention is you figuring out how to explain yourself, LOL.
But Metas are not so important in lower ranks. And I believe the masses say something else than Blizz has on their minds currently.
Wayy too much healing.
It’s not the state of the tank role, it’s the amount of damage and damage amps that is in the game that makes the tank role almost unable to do it’s intended job. Another issue is the amount of CC and displacement abilities that just make the tank’s job even harder.
The problem is DPS heroes doing too much burst and and supports heroes being basically DPS heroes with the ability to heal AND amp the damage up even more on top of it with Mercy damage boost, Bap amp matrix and Zen discord orb.
IMHO, the support role is the problem. They are able to do too much damage and amp the damage of their team to such an extent that healing is no longer their primary job, but rather something they do doing while they aren’t busy killing everything.
The core problem of the game is communication and so many mechanisms than encourage toxic behaviour. From my perspective 95% of rude actions and arguments are mased on false information. We can’t have TEAM-based game when match changes every 10 minutes and just after the game starts half of the party is already in a quit-gg-start over state of mind. Either we focus on high quality games that last longer or their numbers full of mistakes and stubbornness. Secondly - details under tab (aka medals) needs full rework. Atm they do not help, they are not neutral, they provide false information that is missleading. Simple fixes like chat, where you can’t leave the game for like 30 sec if u write something would be so simple and cheap way to remove all those 'f… you …) messages. Last thing - disclose information about the party, amount of healing, solo kills etc. Huge improvement that would help asess of the individual party member and counter argument to all those ‘0 heal whole game’ cries.
Second core issue - no punisments. If i can leave the game or throw it and all i loose is SR that i can regain easly then there is no true competetive mode
There’s a bit too much healing, but it’s needed because tanks can’t survive for a couple seconds without that broken healing. You see a Reinhardt’s shield break and he gets deleted in a second at full health. It should be rare, but it’s not.
Increase tank survivability, nerf healing a bit so tanks don’t become broken. Nerf damage a bit so a good balance between healing and damage is kept.
I think the biggest problem is the community hating the game, but still playing.
That every interesting to play character gets nerfed to the ground to virtual unplayability and the current meta is the 8 most boring heroes.
That’s the issue.
Blizzard doesn’t know which direciton to take tanks.
Supports = healbots
If hitscan DPS is not in TOP 5 it gets buffed.
Ignoring community requests.
Small balance patches - we need big patches with 10+ changes
Overwatch will never heal or go back to what made it awesome. That is all.
