Doomfist is actually so bad that people are being reported for playing him, are literally getting account warnings. Being harassed for playing him.
“Oh don’t worry we’ll buff him in a month”
Zarya and Sojourn are absolutely slaughtering the game.
Like what is this? Genuinely? What the hell are you guys doing? “We can make rapid balance adjustments” THEN DO IT.
Why are you guys sitting here just watching your game burn? I don’t understand it. I really don’t.
“We wanna make seasons feel unique”
Fun fact, literally withholding content and freaking GAME BALANCE just to make your game feel “different” every season is stupid and is not how to properly execute a seasonal model.
I can understand having launch issues.
I even understand having absurd prices in the shop. I doubt the developers have too big a say in that.
But this? This absolutely ridiculous philosophy that everything needs to be saved for a “fun seasonal model”?? This is 100% the devlopers doing, and its one of the dumbest decisions I’ve seen in gaming in a long time.
Stop this and balance your damn game. No one cares about the seasons feeling “different” if it means the game has to suck absolute crap for a whole 2 months. What shocks me even more about this is that they’ve been down this exact road in overwatch 1. They should know how frequently specific balance adjustments need to be made. But no. They still do this crap, years and years later. I genuinely do not understand how you can be this bad at game balancing and design.
I hate saying that about any developers, but come the hell on man. If you’re gonna call your game an esport, at least give a damn to make it look like one.
Bottom line, balance the game. Stop waiting for these stupid arbitrary dates and deadlines to make these changes. You’re wasting everyone’s time and patience.

They’re doing what management tells them to do.
It’s probably working on PvE and upcoming hero balance right now.
They can’t just decide to work on live balance changes. Im sure a bunch would love to, but they can’t.

Perhaps if they weren’t forced to rush the game out the door they wouldn’t be in this position.

You’d think they’d have two separate teams? One for PvP, and another for PvE. If that’s not the case, then no wonder so many things are left in the state that they are…

I doubt they have two separate teams from the language used by people complaining about bobby’s pet projects.
Point is, direction is driven from the top down. If they don’t prioritize live balance, product won’t prioritize it, and developers and game designers won’t be able to work on it.
That’s the actual reason why. It’s a sort of don’t shoot the messenger sort of deal
They said they want each season to have a signature thing.
We’ll look back “fondly” in a year and say remember the Zarya, Genji, Soujourn season?
I’m sure next season the new tank is going to be extremely OP

Which is “make more over priced cosmetic garbage no one wants or is willing to pay our abserd asking prices for”
They wont fix Doomfist when they’re about to try and sell people a battle pass so they don’t have to work to unlock a brand NEW punching tank that will probably actually be good and fun.
Like, they even said flat out in the last hero balance twitter thing they’re “trying to find an identity for Doomfist.”
BS.
He has a clearly defined identity: he’s the guy with the big fist who punches really hard.
YOU just don’t want him to BE that. You have never allowed him to BE that, except with ridiculous strings attached or crippling deficiencies imposed upon him.
You know exactly what and who he is supposed to be, and you know exactly what the people who care about him want him to be. You just want to make him something else to the contrary, and get away with it.

He’s not OP or Bugged so his adjustments will come at the start of a season not in the middle.
Though true, end result is still the same: things aren’t being addressed swiftly, and there isn’t any sort of apparent urgency to fix them.
That’s just poor management, which ends up being a problem for everything, regardless.

Sojourn is, and her adjustments aren’t coming.
Besides thats my whole point. Who the hell thinks its a good idea to balance only at the start of the season??

But the thing is they literally can’t work on it. It’s not about them working too slowly or anything. They’re being told to work on other things.
And I agree that’s the problem: poor management. It’s why Overwatch 2.0 even exists: due to poor management and lack of vision; the game’s halfbaked because there’s no opposition or hindsight.
Honestly, the literal easiest way to fix this would be have a patch schedule like League has.

What are the devs doing? Rolling around naked in all the money the whales are spending on useless stuff for the game.

I dont think overwatch is the type of game that can live off of seasonal patches. We shouldve got all those fixes last week or the week before.
Holding the updates off are really hurting the game along with the price model their aiming for.
EXE file deployments across 4 different gaming platforms, that all need to crossplay together isn’t going to go any faster if you get upset about it.
The quicker balancing system they put in for OW1, broke. They are gonna fix it, but it’s not going to be working until December 6th.
Bill Warnecke, Why Hotfix Balance Patching took till Dec 12
If anything, you’d be better off thinking up the “best fit” balance changes for those heroes that are “numbers changes only”. Even if they are just placeholder changes until they can ship the next EXE file update.
They wanted the 15th of November balance pass to come out but something went kaputz server side and now they gotta go through actual patching.
Still doesn’t address Sojourn though.
They cant fix the game bc its not in the battle pass. But dont worry Actiblizz has heard you loud and clear and will be upping the prices to 60$ per skin!

Surely the transition to a live service model will allow them to release updates, nerfs and tweaks faster… Right guys? Right?
