One random: “Oh they don’t need to change this now in the current game because it’s getting changed / removed in OW2”
Like bro… you’re describing the EXACT issue we are having currently in overwatch. They have abandoned this game completely, and don’t even have the decency to give us a roadmap for overwatch 2. Like what hope is there to have for the upcoming game when they left their one already released in the mud for 3 years.
Like do you think people are going to just see OW2 and be “Oh wow this game is gonna be great” knowing damn well how they’ve handled the FIRST iteration?
No new hero since 2020 (nearly 2 years now, will be 2 years in april), no balance update in 6 months and then the balance update they DO release, is an absolute joke and they didn’t even bother with an experimental on it. They push out garbage changes, and in fact COMPLETELY ignored the feedback on mid air cree roll (which was in 3 previous experimentals) as if the entire point of experimental, isn’t TO GAIN COMMMUNITY FEEDBACK. The community gave their feedback for 3 entire experimentals and they proceeded to push out that garbage anyway.
Ya’ll really need to hold the dev team accountable and stop saying “well who cares, x or y is getting removed in the next game” dawg… we don’t even know when tf the game is coming, it sure as hell ain’t coming this year from the looks of it. They already said it was delayed, and by “said” I mean it was in their pipeline update in the Q3 2021 earnings report… so it wasn’t even told TO the community directly, it was just meant for their investors to know.
To be fair, if you look at the pacing of balance patches of 2021, combined with the hints of OW2 being very close in the distance from certain content creators, you would not find any surprise in me if last week was the last balance change we get before an OW2 beta or something.
I do concur that this game desperately needs updates and soon at that. What I don’t know is how close OW2 really is
That’s like the entire issue. I’m not looking for content creators for a dose of copium that ow2 is around the corner. The fact that blizzard THEMSELVES can’t create a roadmap for the game or just literally dev updates is proof enough how this is all gonna go down.
The thing is, balance changes are not really complicated, since they are mostly only numerical changes anyway. You really can just sit one person down for two hours with the available data and create an experimental and later live patch in a few minutes. It’s really not rocket science to create and implement such changes. It would be possible to do an experimental with a subsequent live patch every two weeks.
Yes and I dislike how blizzard has kept us in radio silence for way too long while content creators get to know something. It’s great that streamers get a better viewpoint of content in the coming months to plan their content, but what’s the harm in informing the community? I’m more curious than disappointed at this point really.
In fact, I will be doing alot of complaining about this when the Overwatch 2 forums come out. Some streamer said those forums will be awesome, so I can’t wait.
Each new DLC we get an EXSTENSIVE like hour long video detailing everything new, everything they are working on, and the release date for what’s coming. And if something ends up getting delayed? They let the COMMUNITY know.
I love destiny 2 and their devs for that simple fact. They actually give af enough to tell people what is happening.
And yet somehow they can’t do that, nor listen to the community on changes they DO implement.
On paper it should be, but somehow this studio makes balance changes look like advanced paleomagnetism. They break the very first rule in maintaining game quality: listening to basic community feedback. Having 2 patches a year just makes it worse, but in some cases better because every patch makes the game worse
To be fair the majority of the player base left once they realized the dev team abandoned them.
The only people making excuses and defending the dev team at this point are the same five forum users you see here who jump into every single criticism thread to drop a “…wElL acTuaLlY I sTiLl hAve fUn so you’Re wROng…!!!” type response before ranting and moaning about how ungrateful/entitled/spoiled the playerbase is
Perfectly sums up my anxiety for OW2. Sure they might support it for a couple years, but how long will it be until they drop all support for years again?
Because abandoning the current game you have out, is a sure fire way to show literally everyone that they shouldn’t trust you to do well with the next game.
Most people don’t care or know the state of OW or blizz and even if you told them the majority still would not care even a little bit. Most people will just play the game regardless of any particular reasoning or not. We’re the minority on the forums and even more so on social media like Twitter. Not the majority.
I think you like many others(and slightly rightfully so) underestimate how much wonders the PVE will do for a massive portion of the player base, that alone will generate a new community all by itself whenever this thing does launch. Most people I know and talk to, don’t even care for OWs pvp or want to keep playing it regardless of how much they change or how many new maps and heroes get added. Most people seem to just want to relax and pvp is the furthest thing from relaxing.
Yeah I just particularly hate how they can’t even do the bare minimum.
Like creating decent balance changes is NOT hard.
Adding more nice QOL changes to the game is NOT hard.
